Yoshikawa EAtCO OROS Grater, Silver

Low price
It’s smaller than I thought it would be, a little hard to hold and drag across the butter, yields tiny amounts, a bit too dainty for me.

Doesn’t work!
I was introduced to this item through an ad posted on a kitchen site I use frequently, even though I really didn’t it. I’m a food gadget guy, so what’s the harm, right? No harm really, but the thing simply doesn’t work (after three tries on three sticks of butter of differing coldness). You end up with a messy glop of butter on whatever you were trying to use the thing for, plus oily fingers because you have to use them to get the butter off the gadget. Not worth sending back, but I’ll gladly pass it on (with full disclosure) to anyone who thinks he/she will have better luck with it.

This Is Fantastically Good!
When I saw this online I thought, this could really work if it's made right. Worried about the handle because it's just a flat piece of steel. I actually bought this for my wife because rather than wait for the butter from the fridge to thaw she'll hack it to pieces.Got it and it's Great! It's made right, made well! My wife wouldn't touch it at first and now she loves it! Loves it! This knife does what it says it will do; curls small ribbons of butter, softening them so that you can easily spread them on toast, bread or the palm of your hand. The flat piece of steel that is the handle fits my hand perfectly and is comfortable. If it's not comfortable for you wrap it in leather, ribbon, paper towels or crepe paper. This is a great kitchen tool. Some "High End Kitchen Equipment" online site is selling this for a whole lot more. Fogetaboutem'!

Waste
I could have used a regular butter knife and gotten the same results. Nothing really special about this ‘knife’ (sic)You have to hold the stick of butter in one hand and try and scrape the butter with the knife in your other hand. It got very messy.Maybe with a little practice it might get easier.........I don’t know, I shoved it to the back of the drawer. For me it was a waste of money.

Good buy
It works! I'd leave my butter out on counter, but I don't use often enough. This clever utensil let's me have little strings of butter that melt quickly and spread well. I'm just sorry it took me so many years to find.

Not as practical, but works!
not practical at all! But it is very welcome when all you have is frozen butter. The angle is weird though.

Why didn’t i buy this sooner?
I love love love love love this whisk! I knew i needed a smaller whisk but i didn’t realize how much i needed this one! I use it all the time for sauces, drinks, you name it. The long handle is great, there’s good weight to it but it’s not too light or too heavy. The whisks tines are a perfect size, works well in a Pyrex custard cup and a large meausring cup. Great steel, no rusting, i will buy a few more to gift my cooking aficionado friends.

Makes nice curly butter
Makes nice little curls even in frozen butter! Would not say that it helps it spread any better than a regular knife though. If you want soft spreadable butter, use a butter keeper. Those work like a charm!

Amazing quality - perfect balance!
One of my favourite kitchen tools! This whisk has a quality finish that doesn't scuff or scratch easily; the handle is very lightweight, but does not feel flimsy or cheap. It is long enough to reach into jars, yet won't topple over when left in a small/shallow bowl (I can't emphasize this enough!). Stores easily, and fits nicely into most apron/sleeve pockets. I have no complaints whatsoever. I love this whisk so much, I may buy a second -- just in case the first breaks 20 years from now and I can't find a replacement. 120% would recommend!
