I had to cut off about 6 inches. The instructions are so small it takes a good magnifying glass to read them. Good part is they sent 4 snaps instead of two SO figuring out exactly how to thread and complete was not easy. It looks like there are 2 entry points for the laces. IF so there is not an easy way to put both in and close the snap. The snaps are hard to operate so as you can see on the pictures, one shoe has one snap and the other shoe has 2 snaps. The open/close button has to be in one threaded position to operate but the instructions don't explain which one. Ok to use but would not order again. My college age daughter finished the process for me; she figured out the correct way to thread the button. Were my go to pair to wear but have only worn once since I put these threads on a month ago. Ok to use.
