We often climb for a couple of hours and the shoes get sweaty; left to their own devices, they then get stinky and clammy, and I don't even want to think about what ends up living in there.Enter the boot dryer. I haven't tried using it with actual boots yet, but it's been very effective for our climbing shoes. We set it up in the garage and just pop our shoes on when we get home, push the "Drying" button, and come back later to pleasantly dry shoes. We usually dry them for about 30 minutes per pair.In terms of comparing this model to other available boot dryers, I can't do a direct comparison (this is the first one I've used) but I can tell you impressions based on the reviews I've read on other dryers.First, it's not silent. As I mentioned, we run ours in the garage when we're not in there, so it's a non-issue for me, but I noticed that "premium" dryers (in the $80-range) mention running silently, so I assume that's important to many customers. This dryer does make noise, though it's still pretty quiet... think "quiet dishwasher" not "hairdryer."Next, it has a timer and shuts off when it's done. It seems like a lot of dryers are on when plugged in, off when unplugged, and that's it. This one has a reasonably intuitive digital interface and remembers the last setting, which is convenient since we typically use the same setting each time.Finally, the one caveat, and the main reason I deducted a star, is that the interface doesn't match what's shown on the box or what's described in the included instructions (and those don't even match each other!). It's a good thing the interface is fairly intuitive because you won't get any help from the instructions. (See the attached photos.)All things considered, I'm glad I bought it and will happily use it for as long as it lives. ### ⭐ I Think This Thing was DOA *by R***S on Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2019* Okay, I was so excited about this item. I have All Bird shoes and they have to be washed often and this was going to be a lifesaver.So, product arrives and I try it the first time. It was weirdly loud and I could barely, adn I mean barely, feel any air. Was the air warm? Not really. Maybe 1 to 2 degrees warmer than the room the device was in, but that could just be me wishing it was warm. So I ran the device one time over night in the guest bathroom, as it is crazy loud.The shoes weren't close to dry, and discovered they dry faster outside without the device. But, wanted to give it a second chance. I did the shoes again, turned on the device, and this time nothing, but a weird electrical sound. Next thing I know I can smell an electrical fire scent coming from the device. No air was blowing, and nothing was heating up, but something was definitely shortcircuiting on the inside.So, if I want the bathroom to smell like electrical fire, I just power this thing up. Now it makes no noise, just throws off electrical scent at the risk of catching fire at any moment.In short, a paper weight could dry my shoes faster.My last complaint is that Amazon should really allow for zero stars for products that really deserve it. This would be one... ### ⭐⭐⭐ Not so intelligent *by A***4 on Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2019* Made of fairly cheap plastic materials. Very loud fan when operating. Instructions were clearly not written in English first and the translation leaves a lot to be desired. However, it's not as if this is a complicated piece of equipment. What is missing completely from the instructions is how to place your shoes, boots, etc. on the blowers. You would think this would be a no brainer but we messed around with several different placements in order to get efficient use. Also has recommended drying times for various types of shoes but says nothing in regards to what is recommended for gloves, socks, helmets, etc. which are listed as other applications for this appliance. The odor protection claim is based on the fact that it uses ozone that they claim kills odors and various fungus. We have not recognized this to be an accurate statement. It does a good job of drying sweaty shoes from a days work but needs to run for a long time to dry something like snowmobile boots.
