This is the first one I ever purchased or used, and it worked excellently for me.I purchased this 100-1000µl pipettor as well as the LabSciences CT-17 Polypropylene 101-1000 microliter Non-Sterile Pipette Tips, Blue (Bag of 1000). (You need pipette tips along with this pipettor, as the liquid is held in the non-included tips, not in the actual pipettor itself).The thumb pump action is very smooth and easy to use. It is comfortable to hold in your hand.Be aware that these type of pipettors, when you press down on the spring-loaded thumb button, there is a soft stop or click before you press it all the way down. You are supposed to stop at this first soft stop location when filling the pipettor and then when empying the pipettor you press the button all the way down past that soft stop until it can't be pressed down anymore. What this does is allows you to make sure you are completely emptying the pipette tip. If you press the button all the way down, past that soft stop while filling, you will pick up more volume than you intended and the measurements will be off. I learned this the hard way, so hopefully it will help you if you are novice.I will mention that I emailed the manufacturer to find out which tips fit this unit and to purchase them, and what I got back was a list of locations that I can purchase from. Including guidance on which tips would have fit would have been much more helpful or even a link to the Amazon page would have been most helpful. As it was, I took a guess at which ones to purchase here and it turned out to be right. I only mention this bc.
