That is because it has to expand , it take up to 72 hrs for it to be fully expanded. So when the frame comes it’s ready to be put on the frame . The instructions were clear,the parts were packed extremely well. You can tell it didn’t come from China!!!! I was looking at day beds to fill the space but after reading many reviews I chose this. I am extremely happy I chose this way. It is so comfortable , I’ll be taking my afternoon naps in here I think. Lol. This is a quality product, you can tell when you unpack it. We only had tracking info for the first box and would not have known there were multiple boxes except for the other reviews. The futon is very sturdy and took 3-4 hours to set up. The mattress is more comfortable than a typical “college futon“ or sleeper sofa, but obviously no replacement for a bed. We are using it in a man cave/family room mostly as a couch but also has extra sleeping space on family visit.
