Though I can now walk without a cane, the problem persisted. I bought this walking stick/seat in desperation. It works beautifully for my purposes. It weighs no more than a similar cane, the seat flips into place instantly when needed and provides all the support I need to recover and move on. I weigh ~250 pounds and it handles that much weight easily.The only caveat would be for a person with more serious balance problems.
