One pickup DOA !
One of the pickups was no longer working but I had planned to replace the pickups anyway. I bought the kit to use it for a pattern for a new alder body. I have not completed the work but having everything already laid out was a tremendous help. Also the neck looks good so the neck alone was almost worth the cost of the kit. When finished I will have a very nice guitar with an upgraded body wood and upgraded pickups plus quality pots and caps.

The neck fit sloppy into the body there is about a 1/16" gap. I wouldn't suggest this kit for someone who will not take the time and make sure the neck sits properly in the pocket.I picked this up more as a mule to test the pickups I wind in.

Everything you need.
Everything you need is there. Get good strings and make sure its setup right, especially neck and intonation. This is my third build and I must say the basswood body finished beautifully. No sealing needed,no primer. Hit it with several coats of lacquer and you'll be good to go.

Mixed Review
Okay let me start with the bad points.1. The neck was lose fitting in the body which made it difficult to glue in straight. Being my first guitar build I did not realize to check upon arrival because lack of instructions or any other direction at all except for wiring diagram (which is another issue I'll get to). And by the time I figured it out it was to late I had stained it and done a bunch of work so I pressed on.2. The previous problem inturn caused the neck pickup to be a problem fitting so I am luckily fairly handy so routed it out a bit and solved that irritating dilemma.3. The extremely low quality screws for the tuners! I drilled a pilot holes and still broke 4 of the 6 I tried to use. I have another guitar I'm planning on refurbishing so I stole them from that guitar for now.4. And really kind of irritating the ONE and only page of instructions is wiring diagram that is WRONG! seriously if you are only gonna do one thing to help at least make it correct! The caps are grounded to the pots so the hot goes direct short which I knew better but still followed the instructions so I know for a fact it's wrong as wrong gets! All that being said I paid a bit over a 100 bucks to learn how to finish, install hardware, solder and fine tune a guitar. So I feel I got at least my money's worth in experience and as low quality of the electronics it sounds and plays pretty well except the stings are super junk so they will be the first upgrade. For that price through I get the low end electronics n tuners. The shipping was great and really great.I will however most likely look elsewhere for a little better quality on my next build but if it's your first one as it was mine and you want to see if you can put a guitar together and have it look and play decent? You really can't go wrong it's a good deal and if you got a little skill with your hands and problem solving or if they fix those issues, it would be even better deal and would have gotten straight up 4 maybe even 5 stars! But thanks for the quick service and overall pretty good product!
