With it I am able to tap into the dryer outlet for higher voltage power needs. This plug is a pass-through, meaning the 220-240 volts coming from that outlet PASSES STRAIGHT THROUGH to the standard NEMA 5-15 (or 5-20) plug.(The one on the end of everything in your home.)Pay attention... this will DAMAGE electrical appliances that are NOT 220v compatible, however for power tools, electric car/vehicle chargers, computer servers/power supplies that automatically switch between 110 and 220.... and any other device that can handle 220v, you will be fine.This is NOT for everyday appliances, UNLESS they are 220v compatible.
