Team Associated's SC10 RS (Race-Spec) is a Ready-To-Run R/C replica of the trucks driven in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series. After winning the 2010 R.O.A.R. National Championships the SC10RS has received some major upgrades including the water-resistant high-power XP SC700 Brushless Speed Control, and a water-resistant enclosed receiver box. The suspension also received an upgrade with the addition of adjustable blue anodized aluminum V2 coil-over shocks. The 2.6:1 ratio gearbox includes a sealed gear differential with new heavy-duty internal gears and the externally adjustable V2 slipper clutch. The new KMC(R) replica hex-drive wheels come standard on the SC10RS with high traction JConcepts racing compound rear tires and inserts for more grip. The XP3-SS 2.4GHz 3-channel radio system and XP S1903MG metal gear steering servo round out the SC10RS as a potent short course race machine.

Motor and speed controller didn't work on arrival. Associated took it back and put in new parts, but cost me 60bucks to return. Car is awesome. I should have just sent it back because it never worked out of the box, but my son had already decorated the body. Still drive my 27 y/o RC 10 and psyched my kids are into RC now. This is a super fun vehicle. Goes over almost everything, but way faster than a truck!

You're gonna need a bigger boat.....

Let me start by saying, photographs do not give any sense of scale. You can see how big the body is compared to the wheels but without a comparison beside you you don't know how big this thing is. I have stadium trucks, buggies, and I even had a T-maxx for awhile. This thing looks like an 1/8th scale. Maybe even a 1/7th scale. The only body I've ever seen that was larger was on a 1/5 losi. I have a RC104.2 and the ENTIRE BUGGY could fit INSIDE of this body....Those "little scale wheels" are 3 1/2 inches.......They are LARGER than stadium wheels....yet they look tiny compared to the rest. Add to that the front and rear bumpers, which Offroad RC sorely needs with our tendencies of hitting walls and trees, and it's several inches LONGER than a stadium truck. I don't think this will fit in my GYMN bag I carry my cars in.And yes this monstrous size does add some weight. A pound and a half in fact over the RC10t. And it doesn't get a more powerful motor, but it does get a better speed controller. The SC700 handles up to 4 cell@3300kv or 3 cell @4000kv. It also has something the SC500 in the RC10t and RC10 deosn't, it has throttle profiles. It works like on board traction control. Basically it adjusts how quickly the throttle can go from nothing to full. It doesn't work the same as a slipper which absorbs sudden changes in rpm, or a dual rate which changes sensitivity, or even ATV which changes maximum throw. Instead it's more like putting a shock on the throttle so that no matter how quickly you squeeze the trigger, it only goes in so far per second. It does this electrically. The effect it has is that I ran it with a 3 cell 2200mah pack (which looked like a pin inside a bucket compared to the HUGE battery bay this thing has) and it would NOT wheelie from a stand still. Because the default "soft" acceleration curve limits voltage until it begins moving. However it WILL wheelie if the truck is already moving. What this means is from a dead stop, you nail the throttle. It launches beautifully, then gets faster and faster, and THEN it begins to wheelie if you don't let off the throttle. It works great and should save many tires. I wore my RC104.2 tires out in 2 weeks on the SC500 controller. The good:Can take punishment. I smacked my mailbox post at 15mph and it bounced. No damage. It handles like a real truck and with it's weight it has a lot of momentum, it doesn't slow down much going from concrete to grass.IT looks fantastic. I feel like I got a $500 car for $300.Suspension was VERY smooth. The smoothest shocks I've ever seen, even better than a T-Maxx.The bad:The speed control was loose inside the car. I had to re-stick it. They didn't push hard enough on the servo tape. The antenna tube is full length even though it's 2.4 At least it fits under the body though. The speed controller was un-calibrated out of the box. The car wouldn't run. I had to go through a complicated calibration procedure before the motor would turn. The ugly:oversteeroversteeroversteerIt handles scale meaning that if you go around a sharp corner at 40mph, you're going to roll or skid or spin. Because of the extra weight and long travel this thing NEEDS front and rear sway bars. They should have included them out of the box because without them the truck is nearly uncontrolable on high grip surfaces above 20mph. You start to turn and it just digs in and goes all out into the turn (just like a real car) until you spin out or roll over.I'll post more review when I have more time with it. So far I'm very impressed and glad I got it instead of another stadium truck. It is a different kind of RC than I'm used to. More scale and realistic VS non scale but high performance.****Update one month later****So one month of bashing later how is it holding up and did I get used to it and grow bored? It's holding up but hasn't been problem free. I haven't broken anything major but it needed some work to keep it running. And I still run it almost every day. This quickly became my favorite RC car. It's just so rewarding driving it.Durability: goodI have run this truck HARD. I've back flipped it off ramps, tumbled it, smacked into things, and a whole lot of flipping, cartwheeling, and jumping.Casualties: The speed control has had to be re-servo taped 4 times now....., The power switch got ripped off doing backflips, One mudflap tore in half, and the other one has just a hair of rubber holding it on, The back of the body has a hole worn at one corner from sliding upside down at 30mph. The replacement power switch failed from dirt and shock. It nearly destroyed 1 cheap lipo pack when it didn't cut off fast enough, causing it to swell but still work. What is notable is what hasn't broken, no shocks popped, no towers broken, no suspension arms busted, all of the things that usually break. Just a never ending battle to keep the speed control stuck in place, and body trauma from wheelies, flips, and concrete face plants.I took it to a large parking lot and finally got it's top speed, about 45mph with Bandito tires and stock gearing on a 3 cell 3200 lipo. I think I could get 55 out of it without burning up the engine or affecting it's low speed acceleration much. And finally I love it so much I can't stop and I just purchased it's bigger brother the 8th scale SC8!!!!Finally one negative: It eats grass. The body supports on the sides that hold the sides of the body have a nasty habit of catching grass between them and the body. I even caught a 2 foot stick INSIDE the body.Best $300 I ever spent on this hobby. Thank you AE for making such an awesome truck.
