I bought two of these to place around my house and was incredibly disappointed. The signals were incredibly weak. In fact, even when placed about half the distance between my router and my desktop, the signal from the router was still stronger, notwithstanding the fact that the distance was twice as far. To experiment, I placed another extender approximately 18 feet away from my desktop, with no obstructions in between. I was unable to a get a full signal even at this short a distance.Also, the instructions are barely written in English. Sentences are stilted, confusing, and use shorthand rather than full words (e.g., "pls" rather than "please"). I'm honestly surprised by the number of 5 star reviews. I wouldn't trust them.

Try googling GALAWAY firmware upgrade -- there is literally no support available for this device. How is the consumer to check if you're running the latest firmware? Also, relevant, show me how you deal with firmware bugs and security threats?If you're not willing to support the software running on these devices, then no thanks! Buyers beware, clearly this manufacturer makes it hard to find and manage firmware upgrades, its a security nightmare

I bought a cheaper unit from another company with only 2 antennas, it did not work at the same location this one does work at. My barn is about 100 feet from the router and this unit works well as a repeater . Downloads between 30 to 40 Mb, Not bad!

This only worked when placed next to router. When moved farther away it was worse than just getting signal from router

I have only one piece of advice.... find something else. I tried to set this up for extending the existing router in my home. First it wouldn’t connect with my current WiFi. Then I decided to move it to a new location to see if I could get a better signal. The thing was hotter than a two dollar pistol. I mean very hot to the touch. I got it cooled down and tried the setup again but no success. And it was really hot to the touch again. So I decided to check the reviews a bit closer. When I purchased it there were 51 five star reviews. Upon rereading the items I noticed the English was not good. And they all had a common theme of what a great product this was. I messed with this for three hours and no matter what I tried it wouldn’t work. That’s three hours of my life I’ll never get back. The item is junk. To bad I can’t give it the no stars it deserves.

I am only getting 20-30 mbps as I have 1 gigabit connection. I am getting 600-700mbs using my router but If I use extender then max 30 mbps

5April2019: Been using this WiFi extender for a few months now and I'm pleased. I have a PC in the garage and a hard wired network connection but the WiFi signal from my router is almost nil (at the other end of the house). I do have a computer radio in my car that needs a WiFi connection for updates, add programs, etc. and I'd have to setup my phone as a hot spot. Now I can do anything wireless now in the garage. It's also nice to have a WiFi signal for my phone but I don't really use it as I mostly use my computer. The 5G signal is very good and gets out almost to the end of my 100 ft driveway. The 2.4 signal only can get out 25 feet or so past the garage. This device was easy to setup if you have any basic networking skills. The automated instructions are okay for a basic setup. Just want you to know that I'm using a wired connection so maybe that's why I'm getting good results. One thing I'm not happy about is trying to find a firmware update (if there is one) for this device. I can't even find a "Galaway" website.

I had dead spots in my house. This did a great job in resolving that issue.
