From what I understand, these bags probably have to be in direct contact with soil for some time before they start to break down. Hours at least, maybe days. The case comes in handy to keep the roll of bags secure. **Q: will standard toilet paper also breakdown inside it in the wilderness?** A: Leave no trace principals of pooping in the wilderness means only your excrement goes in the hole, at least 6 inches deep. These bags should never be buried, nor should toilet paper.
