Review: Sturdy, very practical with lots of cleverly divided space, very well made - I really love this. It holds so much. The drawer fits my membership cards as well as an eraser. The pen holder includes a built in divider so I can separate different types of pens/pencils/markers/highlighters and scissors. There is space for a sharpener with bin, and calculator and phone. It's a great little desk tidy. I'm personally not too keen on the colour (although it looks great and is very well made) as it doesn't match my decor, but it's easily painted with acrylic paint. The finish is smooth to touch - not rough. It has a very light shine so it's not a traditional rustic look, although it would suit both rustic and modern decor. Excellent quality. As shown in the picture.

**Q: Do the drawers fit A4 files?**
A: No. Drawer size is 6-5x4x1 inches.That is six, and a half inches wide by four inches depth by one inch high. This is the internal space for each drawer

**Q: Can this item be painted**
A: The wood has a finish on it, so I think painting it would not be easy

**Q: Would this be suitable as a monitor riser?**
A: I would say no, not really. It depends on the size of the monitor of course but the unit’s quite small and I’d be worried that the monitor might be rather precarious - especially if you plan on using the drawers which may well jiggle the screen when they’re being opened and closed.

**Q: Can the back compartment hold A4 paper or is it separated into two compartments as I can’t tell from the pics?**
A: The back compartment has the width for A4 paper, but is not very high, so could only contain A4 paper if it was leaning up against something like a wall, for the paper to stay upright. The height at the back is only  12 cms. The depth of the back section is less than 2 cms.

I'm quite restricted to my desk space having a compact desk, but still need some sort of storage. See my pictures it looks great and I've managed to fits loads of pens stationary and it holds a couple of books that I need easy access to. The dimensions in the description are correct and the wood quality and build is really good.
