The urn is a one piece, molded resin, vessel with the opening hatch located on the bottom. Pretty solid construction. A single large machine screw secures the hatch closed. The bottom surface also has a nice felt surface to prevent it from scratching furniture. The peel and stick labels are sent loose for you to apply. They are of decent material and thickness. I used a heavy rubber band to temporarily hold the labels firmly onto the curved sides of the urn for a few hours while the label adhesive formed a nice solid grip to the resin.
