I say that because if you feed both dry and wet food one bowl can be designated for just dry and then you have two for wet, so you use one for the morning feeding and pick it up and put it in the sink and wash it when you want to when you've got the 2nd one to get ready for this nighttime feeding. It just makes it handy as far as I'm concerned. Our cat seems to like to take his food out and put it on the floor in front of the bowls but I'm not sure if everybody's cat does that.
