The author uses way too many words to describe everything and it almost makes it a chore to read. I honestly barely skimmed the last several chapters because I couldn't take it anymore. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The first book made me feel like I was reading a thesaurus *by M***. on Reviewed in the United States on October 30, 2015* I'm halfway through the book and find this one to be more enjoyable - and MUCH easier to read - than the first. The first book made me feel like I was reading a thesaurus. This one was much more reader-friendly. Do not - I repeat - do NOT attempt to read this book before reading the first one. You WILL be lost. I also find it troubling that she doesn't go in a more chronological order in this book, or that she doesn't start off each chapter with a year so you can kind of gauge the time frame of when the happenings are occurring. I still have to say, though, I'm really enjoying the book and can't wait to continue reading. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Something to think about... *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2013* The chronology was frustrating, yes. When you are excited for the plot to continue it jumps back and then forth again. Especially toward the end. Too much philosophy in between incidents? Probably. Yes, it was somewhat dragged out. But, I loved it anyway! As the book went on I accepted Andrea's writing style as part of who she is.This book changed me on a deeper level. A few of the situations really got me thinking about our existence, spirituality, and realms we do not understand. Are we all connected in some way? Should we have more peace within ourselves knowing that things in our lives are as they should be, no matter how difficult? I don't know, but I know it took me to a deeper level of awareness.I loved the Perron family. I was sad that the parents were becoming distant and I felt that some of the father's behavior, especially after the seance, may have been due to the evil presence. I guess the family did not see this, though I don't understand how they could not.I sadly wondered if some of the spirits needed their mysteries to be solved to find peace. I felt that the Seven dead soldiers in the wall were crying out for help and the little boy too. Are their bodies buried somewhere on the property and need to be discovered for proper burial in order to cross over? I felt they needed help in some way, but did not receive it. The family did not get the proper help, if there was any, for themselves and the spirits. Though I did wonder what would have happened if the seance had not been stopped. Oh, and Mrs. Warren, please give Carolyn back all of her research!As another reviewer stated, I too felt a connection to this family and the farm. I totally understand our connection to nature. Makes me want to packs my bags and move to the country! I felt that fate brought the Perron family to live in the house for reasons that may never be clear. But I do believe that everything happens for a reason and this was meant for them.Finally, I have to say, that I enjoyed the movie, but it was not like the book.
