The sun was very hot during the day but I never felt suffocated by these leg covers, nor did I get sunburnt at all. I have very fair skin, so sun protection was of the utmost importance. I used these day after day after day and they stayed reasonable clean and didn't smell. The silicon cuffs were pretty good at holding them up on my leg, but I did have to tuck them into my bike shorts to help them stay- which was too be expected as I got dustier as the trip went on.
