I chose this for the price, as I hadn't owned a bass recorder before, but it sounds great. I can hit the low F consistently, and the upper register is getting easier to hit as I break it in. It's also very beautiful. The only issue I've had so far is that the C key on the left hand squeaks a bit when pressed. Members of my recorder club are impressed by its smooth sound. I had thought about buying a Yamaha knick bass or even an Aulos but both of those instruments are in the $300 to $400 range.
