They are a nice compact size that can accommodate a good amount of filter media, they have a stand that's removable in case you want to put it somewhere with less space, you can integrate the header right in the unit, and cleaning is easy. I like how there is an assembly that both tubes connect to, and you can give the assembly a twist and it disconnects both tubes and allows you to remove them together without any water spilling out. Then you can service the filter, and twist the tube connection assembly back on and you're done. And it's very quiet. I have two running behind me and I can't hear either of them. Review: Great for smaller tanks - Using this on a 30cm cube (7.2 gallon). Maybe a little overkill but I like the cleaner look using an external canister filter. Easy setup, leak free, and solid build quality. I’m using it with lily pipes and the flow is perfect. I don’t really like the dark tubing they give you so I bought some clear ones instead. It comes with sponges and bio media but I replaced the bio media with Seachem Matrix. Priming the filter is easy. With the top off, fill it up with as much water as you can then put the top back on. Then twist off the cap for the optional heater port and fill it up more until it’s just an inch or so away from overflowing. Screw the cap back on and plug it in. One thing to watch out for; there’s a small tube right near the propeller that fell off on mine.
