One of my favorite books to gift (and read).
The first time I bought this book, it was for my own kids, and we all loved it. The story, the message, the illustrations -- all of it is fabulous. The second time I bought it was for my son's classroom. The third time, for my daughter's, and it just kept going. I just bought this for the eighth time as a gift for a family member's child. I recommend it to everyone, regardless of age!

We Enjoy This One!
This book has become a favorite in our house! While this book is recommended for the 6-9 age group, my 4 year old gets a kick out of it. She doesn't yet understand some of the scientific words and concepts (i.e. atoms, magnetism, etc;) but that doesn't stop her from enjoying the story. What I love about this book is that it's based on a real person and true events - finally, a children's book that's not based on farm animals! It starts out by detailing how little Albert didn't talk much when he was a child, was mischievous in class and getting in trouble and didn't relate well to the other children. It then goes into his career - how he wanted to be a teacher but ended up working in a government office. Eventually, the book talks about Albert's ideas and recognition. You also learn about Albert's quirks - how he didn't like to wear socks, enjoyed ice cream and the violin and liked to wear the same baggy clothes. Unfortunately, it does talk about his smoking pipe which I had to explain to my daughter - I turned that into a lesson about how smoking is bad for you but it was something they used to do in Albert's time because they didn't know any better! The hardcover version is definitely sturdier but the new paperback version holds up well. I do wish that they didn't put the font in a red color on some pages - it's hard to see with the background color.

A BEAMING Biography!
A curious, imaginative, young boy, who barely speaks as a child and isnโt like the all the other students, nor does he want to be, grows into one of the most genius minds that changes life as we know it. A celebration of Einsteinโs curiosity and genius will pique the interest of any budding scientist. A must have book for every classroom and home of the precocious child. Why I Like This Book: An amazing way to bring the life and work of Albert Einstein alive to children. What a perfect introduction to the young reader about the famous physicist who never stopped questioning the world around him. The whimsical illustrations illuminate each page, and it shines a light on the underlying message the story shares about the value of the imagination and how that should be nourished and not crushed. An awakening of the senses and a fascinating read!

Great for kids or bored adults
I had to read this book to write a biography on Einstein for my Literature in Childhood Education class. It was cheap enough to just buy it on Kindle instead of hunting down in the library. I didn't think much of the class itself, but this book surprised me. I learned facts about Einstein that were designed to appeal for children, but why wouldn't adults like to know silly facts like Einstein hated socks? I learned a lot of quirky things about the man and I got a perfect score on my assignment. I'm very happy. The illustrations are consistent with a children's book and parallel the story very well, it would be easy for children learning to read to follow along with this book. Buy it for yourself or your kid! It's good!

Amazing book! My 6 year old devoured this book ...
Amazing book! My 6 year old devoured this book in about 20 mins. He AND myself absolutely loved learning more about Einstein. The story is easy to read and it tells kids that it is ok to be different and in some aspect it is a advantageous feature to have and encourage them to never stop dreaming in achieving your wildest dreams. He read this book a couple of time and will revisit again the rest of his childhood, I hope!

Inspirational, but too short and not suitable for reading on a kindle
The book and illustrations are wonderful, although quiet short. It gave a very brief introduction to the life of Einstein, and I mean very brief. I have two problems with the book. First, given the subject matter, I would think it is more suitable for a older child, say a 3 grader at least. But for a 3rd grader, we really could use a bit more information about Einstein then the book presented. My biggest problem thought, is that I brought the Kindle version. On my first generation paperwhite kindle, each "page" is presented as a landscaped image on the kindle. If you click on the little square, it will zoom into display a graphical image of the text portion of the image. While I can imagine that the illustrations are wonderful, on my paperwhite's tiny screen I really cannot tell.So I would advice against buying the kindle version.

Good for Kinder through third grades.
Albert Einstein's life was greatly interesting. This story does a fair job of leaving us wanting to know more. I wish author Jennifer Berne would decide who her audience is to be, preschool, or elementary; the words and sentences are all over the place in their age appropriateness. However, the story remains absorbing and kept my attention throughout. Vladimir Radunsky is a favorite illustrator. He does this book justice.

A great book
It's a wonderful little book about Albert Einstein, telling the story from early childhood to working for the patent office to finally being able to do the research that has changed our understanding of the universe.Im not the biggest fan of the illustration style, but I love it nonetheless (as do the children) and we've ordered more to give as gifts.

Beautifully presented
A super picture book to read with children to introduce them to the wonderful world of Albert Einstein. I have used it with children from 8-11 year old during science activities and learning in class. Also read it to my own child as a bedtime story.

Lovely picture book suitable for a range of children
Lovely book. This is suitable for a full age range. Lovely illustrations and a story easy enough to follow all about Einstein and his life

Works in some points and not others.
Beauitfully illustrated and starts well, but then gets very, very wordy and the kids (age 8 and 6) don't follow and lose interest. Could have been simplified one step more and that would have told the same beautiful 'story' a bit more effectively.
