Wool Rescue Survival Blanket – Warm Emergency Outdoor, Camping Sleep Throw

Bought these for outdoor use: sitting around the firepit sometimes requires an additional layer and these blankets fit the bill perfectly. Not too expensive (like other all wool blankets), so not afraid to get them a bit dirty or smoke-scented. Nice and warm on a cold day. Highly recommend.

This blank is pretty thick with a great feel. It is good quality and reminds me of my bunk blanket from my military basic training. I purchased it to store in my truck as an emergency blanket. I believe it will hold up and work well.

Does have an odor that needs a few washings to dissipate. I've washed mine twice now and the odor is tolerable. I'll hang it in the sun next and see if that helps. It's thick, heavy and warm. The tag- mix has 54% wool in mine, does say fire retardant and dry clean only (but I washed it anyway- don't notice much, if any shrinkage- just some light shedding). The edges have a blanket stitch to hem, but it's not very well done. They just cut off the ends, no finishing knots to keep it from unravelling, so I'm not sure how long it will last. (I have a serger, so I'll just fix this little issue myself). Overall, it's a nice blanket that needs a little work, but for half the price of the other wool blankets I've researched, it's a great bargain. I'm ordering another.

My experience with these blankets seems to be slightly different than other's experience . I found these blankets to be not as warm as I thought they would be and they ARE rather thin even though they seem to be fairly heavy because of the wool . On the other hand I never had a problem with the "smell" of these blankets at all and I have found them to be very durable because I have had them for at least 5 years now and I have thrown them in the washing machine and dryer many times and I've never had a problem with "shedding" like other people have . But I also have only washed them in cold water every single time . I definitely would not suggest washing them in any other temperature except cold water . And if you really want to keep warm with these in cold camping weather outside in a tent then you will need at least two of these plus a third blanket or comforter . But they are very fairly priced and they have been very durable and cold water washable and able to he put in a dryer . I wouldn't take a chance on washing them in warm or hot water because wool will almost always shrink in those temperatures . But all in all they have been very useful and durable and a very good deal for the price . But buy at least two or three if you want to camp out in the cold weather !

This blanket is great to have in your truck. Worst case scenario it'll keep you warm if you get stranded. Failing that, it's great to have around for impromptu picnics, hikes, or beach adventures. It's pretty scratchy, but it is fairly warm for how small it folds up, and it is really durable. Makes a great beach / hike / etc... picnic blanket. Most of my vehicles are grey inside, so it also works great to camouflage various items if I leave stuff in my car overnight in an area I don't know too well. I just throw it over my toolbox and it looks like nothing is there from outside. Pretty cool.

This is a basic wool blanket ideal for picnicking, camping, or emergency preparedness. As mentioned in other reviews, it comes out of the box with a strong smell. I took the following steps to condition my blanket. First, hang it outside for an afternoon or two somewhere out of the sun. Next, wash TWICE on cold with a full dose of Woolite (for dark fabrics if you're concerned with fading). Grab a bottle of quality hair conditioner--I use Mane 'n Tail, but some sources suggest finding a higher lanolin content--and work it into the entire blanket on both sides (I used half of a bottle). This will be a little messy, but it's important to take your time and move in sections. Once the entire blanket has been treated with the conditioner, send it through the rinse cycle once or twice, until the excess conditioner has been rinsed off. Your blanket should smell much better by this point. Now, onto drying, which is an all-day endeavor. I recommend 30 minutes of tumble drying on NO HEAT, followed by 30 minutes hanging in a shaded, breezy area outside, and then repeat back and forth until dry. Depending on where you live, this could take many hours. When you're finally done, you'll have a blanket that smells pretty good and feels noticeably softer.

As the dimensions indicate, this is a large blanket. I can wrap it around my body and still have some to go. I'm confident that if I have to use this as a part of my camping bag, I will be warm enough and not have to worry about the coverage. The material is a tad rough, but its a brand new wool blanket, it's to be expected. I was happy to find that the blanket does not leave little fuzz balls all over my clothes as often times new blankets do. I'm very happy with the purchase.

The blanket pretty much looked like the picture and was in good condition. The only thing I couldn't get past was the smell of it. Not sure why any company would want to sell a blanket that smells so bad. Can't they make something fire retardant without having it smell so bad. You may rescue someone with it but then you kill them with the smell when you wrap it around them. I had wanted a blanket to replace an old wool navy blanket that I had lost - guess I will just have to go to the army navy surplus store or got for a different kind material or a higher priced wool blanket. I had to end up tossing the thing out - the smell was too horrible. I should have listened to the other reviews but I was hoping it wasn't going to be as bad as they said - it was far worse.

個体差かも分かりませんが、私の物は変な臭いも油っぽさも無かったです。普通に布らしい匂いでした。 んで、椅子に敷いてリクライニングして包まったら秒で寝た。 重さや質感がハッキリしている分、却って包まれているという感覚が強く、それが私には合っているのかもしれない。 とても良いものです。結構安いですしね。

this blanket came smelling very bad

臭い臭いとレビューで見てましたが、個人的にはまったく気にならない程度です。クレヨンやクーピーのようなにおい、しばらく箪笥の中に入れっぱなしだった衣類のようなにおいと感じました。 到着後すぐにコインランドリーで洗濯、低温で40分ほど乾燥させたところ、においは多少残るものの、気になるほどの縮みはありませんし、油っぽさや固めの質感、バサバサすると舞うほどの毛羽立ちは一度の洗濯でもずいぶん落ち着くと思います。 あとはもうとにかくかっこいいし暖かいです。細かいことは気にならない、タフな道具が好きな方にはハマると思います。

匂いなんか気にしません、どうせ1～2年で消えます。長く使うことが大事。キャンプ以外でも、ちょっと車で寒いとき、ちょっと外で寒いとき、いろんなところで使えます。ハイテク商品に比べれば重いとかいろいろあるかもしれませんが、無骨派なら気にしないでしょう。

地べたスタイルのソロキャンプ用に、イタリア軍レプリカに続き、こちらを購入。 ちょっと薄いが、グランドシートの上に敷いて使用するので十分かな！ 価格もお手頃でした。 油臭なども気にならない程度。 これからガンガン使っていきたいなあ！
