Pinnacle Studio 18 Plus and Ultimate Revealed

Excellent book to go with Pinnacle Studio 18 (Plus & Ultimate) Software
British Pinnacle Studio expert, Jeff Naylor, is to be congratulated on an excellent 504-page book designed to help get the maximum out of Corel's Pinnacle Studio 18 software, now available in 64-bit form. The publication is well detailed and comes complete with helpful images yet it has an easy-to-understand flow that makes following the book a pleasure. The author knows his stuff and not only covers virtually every aspect of Pinnacle 18 Plus and Ultimate versions, but he provides interesting background and definitions that improve the reader's grasp of what is going on and why. And it is all in a readable form that does not go over the heads of those less technically inclined. You can turn to any page and find yourself drawn to fascinating information that make putting the book down a challenge. Old media technology and new technology are covered, including importing from tapes, like VHS and DV, to more recent advancements like MP4 and AVCHD used by modern camcorders with solid state memory. Creating DVD's and Blu-Rays are included along with 3D, FLV, transfers, transitions, titling, editing, music and speach, stereo and surround sound, export formats for social media and computer tricks.About the only thing I think Jeff missed was the difference VHS and Super VHS (a minor detail) but he does explain regular VHS sound versus VHS Hi-Fi. He also covers transferring from DV cameras to newer laptops that no longer support Firewire using capture through the USB Pinnacle Moviebox hardware (an item getting harder to find).Going a step further, Jeff Naylor provides additional support for the book by giving free access to his own website where images and files can be downloaded that are useful in practicing step-by-step techniques outlined in the chapters. No CD/DVD comes with the book but that is not a problem when you can download.Well written, well presented and well worth getting if you are starting with, or upgrading to, Pinnacle Studio 18 software.

Great Beginner to Intermediate Level book for Pinnacle Studio 18
If you own Studio 18 Plus/Ultimate, this book is worth every penny. The author is clearly familiar with the detailed use of this program and video editing in general. The tips and shortcuts, as well as the understanding of what is happening behind the scenes, will save you time in accomplishing your objectives. I got it today and have gone through the first chapter (69 pages).Pros:Large font for easy readingExercises for hands on experienceScreenshotsPacked with informationDetailed explanations of buttons, keyboard strokes and conceptsCons:Continuous sentence structure sometimes makes it hard to follow or confusing, especially when the author goes on a tangent. (these should be in a separate text "box")Exercises should be presented in bullet form instead of sentence form.Chapters are long and don't have numbers. The pros far outweigh the cons. The keyboard tips and experience gained in the first chapter alone will save tons of editing time. This book is Beginner to Intermediate level, perfect if your new to Pinnacle.

Invaluable resource for learning Pinnacle Studio 18
Pinnacle studio is a fairly complex video editing software package. Learning how to use it by trial and error would be very frustrating. This book is well written and in a step by step approach teaches you everything you need to know to get the most out of Pinnacle studio 18. The author walks you through practice projects. You will also learn some video recording rules and rules of proper editing.I highly recommend this book

As a retired teacher who was involved in the production of instructional material for modules I was impressed with the clear explanation and guidance given as you were taken through the various stages of film production using Pinnacle 18.
