Merick's Tyre Gunge is an aqueous based liquid, tyre puncture sealant, primarily intended for use with either road or mountain bike tyres. It can be used equally as well with motorbike or car tyres. Tyre Gunge is normally installed as a puncture preventative, it's composition of specially chosen binders and micro-fibers will ensure a rapid and reliable seal in the event of a puncture. The inclusion of anti-corrosive inhibitors also ensures that Tyre Gunge will cause no harm to tyres, tubes or wheel rims. It is stable over a wide range of temperatures but can easily be removed with warm soapy water. Once installed the rotation of the wheel evenly coats the liquid over the inner surface of tube or tyre. Now acting like a tyre guardian Tyre Gunge will seek out and seal any puncture up to 5mm in diameter that causes an air loss. This seal is achieved by the puncture's flow of air pulling a film of sealant through the puncture hole. A 'log jam' effect by the micro-fibres results in them bridging the hole and then being held in place by the binders, thus forming an effective seal from the inside. Please note that Tyre Gunge will not seal sidewall punctures, buckled rims or leaky valves. Suitable only for Schrader valves.
