Just what I ordered!
It was packaged well and arrived without any bent corners.

Better as a hard copy, but the content is outstanding
One of the best all-round one volume commentaries I've ever had. It's kind of a chore getting around things in the Kindle version, but I wanted a copy that I would have on hand wherever I was, so it was worth it (I also own the hard copy). I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars because I don't think ANY digital book should be priced this high.

Great basic and easy to understand commentary.
Good schaolarship backs this commentary. Very good for quick reference to do deeper study of a passage in other commentaries

Seems to be geared toward non-scholars
Years ago I owned a 1971 copy of this one volume commentary and somehow it got away from me. Recently I decided to replace it and saw this new edition and ordered it right away. I was very disappointed. It seems the only things they had in common were the title and publisher. I was hoping for the same quality of commentary with updated scholarship. Instead I received a much larger print edition with less info than my '71 edition. It seems to be "dumbed down" and geared more for freshmen college students rather than biblical scholars. The info it contains is not wrong or misleading per se, it's just not the depth that I had hoped for. Am I keeping it? Yes, but only because I also ordered another '71 edition to replace my old one and the Interpreter's Study Bible to go along with it. Hopefully, what one volume lacks the others will provide. But if it were the only one volume commentary I owned I would consider it rather weak.

It is such a wonderful rich resource
ive in a small house. I work in a small office in a small church. For those reasons and others I will never have a huge library. When I add a book I almost always remove a book, a practice that allows me to focus on quality over quantity. Over the past couple of years I have focused on building a collection of commentaries but the One Volume Commentary can never be omitted. It is such a wonderful rich resource, especially together with the New Interpeters Study Bible that I never want to be without it.

A good one-volume commentary
Of the three one-volume commentaries I own, this one does the best job of discussing the meaning and application of the Bible. I would have given it five stars except that the Kindle formatting is poor. One can only access the contents by book, not by chapter. So, for example, if I want to look up Genesis chapter 25, I can go to the beginning of Genesis (or the end of Exodus) and then I have to page forward (or back).

Opinionated. Not very useful. Lack of commentary.
I purchased this as a requirement for a course I was taking. I have to force myself to cite the thing because it's required for the class or I would ignore it completely. I have many other 1 volume commentaries that offer far more useful less opinionated information. I do not care for the authors writing style, it contains very little useful information that a basic Study Bible wouldn't already contain and pretty much just summarizes the Bible in as many pages as the Bible is written in. It's not succinct at all. I can read the Bible itself. I don't need a commentary that repeats it without any... commentary.
