GREAT KETTLE, perfect for my needs
This works perfectly for my needs. Living in CA I hate running the water for it to get hot when I'm brushing my teeth, using the water pik, etc. This kettle is the perfect answer. I usually fill it to about a third and it heats the water very quickly. I just it to sterilize my tooth brush after brushing, is it in my water pik by adding some cool water in, and to wash my face. It is small enough it doesn't take too much room on my vanity. Easily rinsed clean. Stainless steel on the inside. Love the auto shut off as well. The only con is I sometimes find it hard to line up the kettle to place it back in the base, but that is really just nit picking. Great product.

If you travel, you NEED this
I travel for work and stay in hotels a lot. I have used this little thing a ton. I think I’ve had it over a year. When I’m in hotels, I can boil water for instant soups, use the water for making tea (I don’t drink coffee, and I’m NOT using a hotel room coffee pot to make tea—blech). I can even boil 2 eggs in this. There are a lot of times when you really could use boiling water. This thing is the perfect size for traveling. If you keep the lid on, it will do an auto shut off when it reaches a boil. If you take the lid off, it will keep boiling. That feature may be useful if you need to keep a rolling boil going for a certain number of minutes for some reason. You can also just manually turn it off at any time if it’s as hot as you want it. And the water heats up FAST. I love this thing so much that if it broke, I would definitely buy another one. When I’m not traveling, I use it at home, too, because I don’t need a full-sized kettle.

Perfect travel kettle, perfect for use at home
Two years ago I was getting ready for a trip and bought this travel kettle so I would be able to make tea in my hotel room. COVID made the trip impossible so I've been using it at home, several times a day, in the two years since. Everything about it is perfect: it is quiet, boils the water really fast, remains cool to the touch.I love that the kettle itself is cordless. The large opening and detachable lid make the kettle easy to fill.I love the substantial handle, it feels very safe in my hand. There's nothing flimsy about it.For me personally, the best and most important feature is the automatic shut off.The description says it boils water in 5 minutes - I haven't timed it but I think it's actually much less than that.I have never boiled anything but water in it so I don't know how it would behave and hold up if you boil anything else.A week ago the automatic shutoff stopped working. Since this is the most important feature for me, I bought a new kettle, even though the old one still boils water perfectly fine. The price is a bit high but it's absolutely worth it for me.One thing I noticed is that the pretty pink the first kettle was has faded over time and by now doesn't look too different from the (off)white one I replaced it with.

It’s the perfect travel/compact kettle that quickly and safely brings water, and *only* to a boil.
Loses a star for not explicitly stating that it is only for boiling WATER. Had this clearly been stated in the product name/immediate description, and not possibly implied otherwise, I would have given it 5 stars. Here’s why:As long as it’s only water and you never fill it past the “max fill line” - it’s perfect. When I poured my cold tea back in and reheated it, (tea+sweetener only, no milk, the original tea-water was boiled in that same kettle, perfectly, cleanly, and quickly) the tea “exploded” all over my work-desk and most of it had boiled away. I think the automatic shut-off works based on the amount of steam present, and it is calibrated to pure water - I’m pretty sure different mixtures produce different amounts of steam (not to mention different boiling temperatures- if the calibration is temperature based as well - and even if it’s still mostly the same water, having coffee or tea in it does change these things). That’s the warning. Now onto why I absolutely love it and why it’s worth the $10 or so extra above some of the “basic” models.I have the blue, it’s a gorgeous bright pastel sky-blue color. Bright and true to the product photo as pictured; if anything, it looks even nicer in person. It’s aesthetically very pleasing. And - it is solid, smooth, seamless stainless steel on the inside, encased in high-quality plastic with minimal seams. It’s a good solid construction. Nice to the touch too and feels nice in-hand, heavy, not flimsy.( “Heavy” in the good way, since you don’t want a travel kettle to weigh any more than it must if you’re actually putting it in your suitcase. On that note, the way it’s constructed with no sharp parts that could catch on anything like delicate clothing, as well as the smooth, easy to clean+dry inside where you could easily pack into a few pairs of underwear or stocking or the like, even your smaller toiletries - makes it perfect to minimize how much space it takes up in your bag and maximize packing potential. Comes with a nice-looking and feeling velvety travel case too.)Did I mention it’s wonderfully compact, while actually being able to heat/boil the amount of water it’s indicated to (.5l which is more than enough to fill my 16oz tea-mug). Takes up minimal counter/desk space. The cord doesn’t twist and tangle inconveniently either: it’s designed in such a way that the base places flat on the table/counter-top (forgot to take a photo of the underside, I’ll try to add it later.)The cord in just long enough to plug into a mid-lower wall outlet when the kettle is situated on a table/desk. It’s 3’ (as stated, I didn’t measure but it looks/seems accurate). No extra cord bulk.(At the same time, if you the outlet isn’t next to the table you’ll have to do some repositioning.)It DOES automatically turn off when the water comes to a boil. It’s a manual on-off switch that you have to push/press with your finger - clicks as easily off as on, if you wish to turn it off before the water comes to a boil. And the switch is in an easy to reach, clearly visible, intuitive location unlike some kettles.( But, for those who like to operate your kitchen appliances remotely with your phone, or other smart-home setups - the only way I can see this possibly working with anything like that, is if you have something that keeps your outlet *off*, i.e. properly interrupts the electrical current supply running to the outlet/switch until your smart-home setup switches that outlet on: is to manually pre-set this kettle to “on” each and every time. Obviously leaving it filled with water.I haven’t had a chance to test what would happen if this kettle was turned on without any water inside. I will eventually remember to do so, and when I do, I’ll add that information to this review.)Point is, depending on how you have your smart-home setup ... set-up, there’s no reason this couldn’t be preset in the evening (or whenever) to boil your water for you at whatever time it is you have set remotely, etc. However, this device itself is *not* a smart device. It’s a simple, no frills, manual tea kettle. There is, (wonderfully), nothing extra in this kettle. There’s:(1) compact kettle body, with solid stainless steel interior;(2) cover to the kettle, which fits snugly and securely, and removes completely and separates from the body of the kettle - it’s not on a hinge;(3) the on-off switch, intuitively located, easy to access and press;(4) indicator light - which isn’t all that bright, especially if in a sunlit/well lit room, but it’s enough to be able to tell that the kettle is on, you might-might have to shade it with your hand if you have trouble distinguishing such things or it’s in direct sunlight.(5) the kettle base;(6) the 3’ cord;if you want to get technical and/or include everything that encompasses the kettle and it’s accessories that come in the box sans the packaging materials, then(7) the velvety-feeling travel bag for storing/transporting the kettle. It’s the perfect travel/compact kettle that quickly and safely brings water, and *only* to a boil.I’m debating getting another one for my kitchen (I have a tiny kitchen and it’s me and my cat, who doesn’t drink anything with hot water ^_^*). The one I purchased was for my office, so I could be lazy and make tea without leaving my desk all day long.

Stops working after a while
I have bought two of these in the past, and they stop working after a while. Last time, I bought this in January 2014 and now it is September 2025 and is no longer working... The light goes on but it doesn't heat the water. First time it happened in 2014, I bought a new one, but now I won't buy this one anymore... also because it is out of stock. I wonder if I can return it???

Perfect
The media could not be loaded. I really wanted black, but this unit appealed to me, so I went with the what I thought was white then I saw the reviews and some people were unhappy that it wasn’t white. It was more cream colored, but that worked out perfectly for me as you can see by all my pictures, it fits in great With everything elsecompact for one cup of tea, which is what I got it forReally fast comes to a boil, almost before I can get the teabag out
