The Secret Lives of Men and Women: A PostSecret Book

A book that follows me throughout life's journey
I first got into PostSecret when I was in High School. It reached out to me in a way that angsty teenagers can appreciate. I was feeling lonely, ostracized by my peers, frustrated with the system, and just down right rebellious. I purchased this book in 2007, and I still take if off the shelf from time to time. This book has followed me from both High School and College graduations, across 5 moves (and counting), and will likely continue to follow me throughout my life. It is inspiring, beautiful, moving, empowering, and depressing. It is a constant reminder that people have gone through worse and weirder than I have, and that there are even people that share some of my secrets.I purchased this book and the "My Secret: A PostSecret Book" at the same time, and they have both been on my bookshelves for years. I come back to them when I'm feeling a certain kind of way, and sometimes I reap a cathartic experience or inspiration out of them. Sometimes they sadden me, and I may even feel strongly enough to get a bit weepy. Other times they inspire me. In poetry, in writing, in my life. And even though I no longer religiously check the PostSecret website like I once did 5 years ago, the fact that these books are on my shelf brings me some comfort. Comfort in sadness, maybe, but it's something.

Wonderful installment of the PostSecret books
Postsecret is a community project started by Frank Warren. Initially he printed 3,000 self-addressed and postage paid postcards and asked people to anonymously send him a secret. He only got 100 postcards back but since then he has received over 50,000 postcards and they keep coming in.Reading these secrets feels intimate, the postcards are hand crafted and some are incredibly clever and beautiful. The secrets range from the trivial and funny to touching, heart warming and heartbreaking.Reading these I couldn’t help but think that people share a lot of the same insecurities and worries, that many of us make bad choices and don’t know how to break away from them, that many of us want to change and that many of us feel scared and alone.Reading this was like a leveller, it reminded me what is important in life, it reminded me that I am fortunate in many ways and it reminded me that I am not alone. It also made me think about what my secrets are and temporarily made me want to share them.

What a wonderful book!
I just finished reading this book and can't quite describe the varied emotions I felt while doing so. Apparently, I live under a rock because I had never heard of the author, book or project until today when the book was handed to me at work. There is something deeply moving about reading people's innermost thoughts that range from the overwhelmingly sad thoughts on marriage to some other secrets that were, bluntly put, disgusting.I'm going to purchase this book for myself because I think it provides fascinating insight into the minds of people in America today. I related to so many of the "secrets" and found the somewhat repulsive ones just as intriguing if only because that was the best they could think of to send in.This is not a book that is meant to sit on a coffee table, but it's certainly one that would provide hours of conversation over what was submitted. Again, a highly fascinating book that I would recommend to others.

What we're really like in unguarded moments
I have enjoyed all of the Post Secrets books. It's guilt-free reading other people's mail. So many insights into the human condition, funny, sad, and all emotions in between. I've also subscribed to his weekly newsletter that comes on Sunday with about 10 "secret" postcards each week.

Absolutely LOVE the Post Secret books
Absolutely LOVE the Post Secret books. I will buy them all and can't wait for another to come out! I use mine as coffee table books, and they'd probably make great gifts to all types of people. Everyone who picks one up off my table can't put it down until they've read the whole thing. They're universally appealing!

Amazing as always
I'm a big PostSecret fan, and have been for years, so no big surprise that I absolutely love this book. Bought this one for a friend, and she loved it too.The two PostSecret books I have are both beautiful, and make for more interesting 'coffee table' style books as well. When you feel disappointed with humanity: sit down with a cup of tea and this book, and you will feel better (and more in touch) in no time!

Wow
I have been an avid fan of the PostSecret blog for some time now and have bought other PostSecret books so I knew what I was in for. This book is a perfect continuation of the blog, some secrets are silly, others soulful and it's up to you what hits you hardest. It also make an alternative coffee table book as it's beautifully presented.
