Benson here again, continuing my reviews of USB Type-C legacy cables, adapters, and accessories. Today I am reviewing LightningKid's USB Type C (USB-C) to USB 2.0 Type A Charging and Sync Cable.Let's check spec compliance :I'm using my trusty Chromebook Pixel 2015 with the Chromium Twinkie USB-PD Sniffer, available on Amazon from Plugable : Plugable USB 3.1 Type-C (USB-C) Power Delivery SnifferFor my first test, I've got the LightningKid USB 2.0 Type-A to Type-C cable plugged into an Apple proprietary Type-A charger, the stock iPad Air 2 charger.The Type-C end is plugged into Twinkie, acting as a pass through to Chromebook Pixel 2015. Picture attached!First let's run the ectool command from Pixel's command line to check what Pixel thinks is happening on its USB-C ports :localhost / # ectool --name cros_pd usbpdpowerPort 0: SNK Charger Proprietary 4719mV / 2000mA, max 5000mV / 2000mA / 10000mWPort 1: DisconnectedSo far so good. Pixel identifies the charger as a Proprietary type adapter, and has negotiated 2A 10W of charging.Let's see what Twinkie (the USB PD sniffer) says :> tw ccCC1 = 418 mV ; CC2 = 15 mVThe tw cc command reads the current voltage values from the CC pins. As you can see here, CC1_PD pin has a value of 418mV. Referring to the USB Type-C Specification Table 4-25 Voltage on Sink CC pins, this voltage falls right in the middle of the range allowed for vRd-USB, meaning that yes, this MicroUSB adapter has the correct 56kΩ pullup resistor!One more command :> tw vbusVBUS = 4767 mV ; -2034 mAThe tw vbus command uses twinkie's current and voltage meter ability. As you can see, the laptop is pulling just around 2A of current at 4.767V from the Apple adapter.For a data test, I’ve hooked my Nexus 5X to my Chromebook Pixel via the LightningKid Type-A to Type-C cable to test large file transfer via MTP. It just works, no problem!Now for more subjective judgments of this cable : The Type-C plug on this cable is a stamped metal part that's been wrapped around to the shape of the plug. It does have a seam on one side. The tip is plastic. Overall, good, but not great, quality here.In conclusion : A high quality charging and data sync A-to-C cable from LightningKid! The cable is a great safe way to charge and sync newer USB Type-C devices such as Nexus 6P/5X or Pixel devices with your old Type-A equipment. It is also future proof for fast charging USB Type-C devices to come!

I purchased this cord because I had just bought a new phone that took a completely different charging cord than all the other phone chargers in my house. We were going out of state and I wanted to be sure I had a back up cord.The cord arrived on time and was in a nice little box all wrapped up, it was not wrapped tight enough to cause any bends or places in the cord that would need to be straightened out laterThe length is nice for charging, but can make it difficult if you are wanting to use this phone while it is plugged in. I was able to use it accordingly in the house and vehicle with the appropriate adapters. It worked with both my 1.0 charging adapter and the 2.0The phone cord has lasted me for about 6 months with no sign of wear and tear or need to be replaced. The cord itself is decently thick material that seems to make it a little more durable which is great because I have small children that roam around and step, knock over or pull on it.I would definitely recommend this cord to anyone who is just needing a basic charging TYPE C USB cord.

I am able to listen to books and songs along with a small group of student's. I use it with my Macbook and the students really enjoy listening along with me while other student work with the other teachers in our classroom. This would be a great addition to any class with a listening area. It takes up so much less space than the older bulky splitters we used in the past!

Worked with my Nexus 5X right out of the box. The build quality seems very solid and sturdy. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a OTG USB-C to A cable.

I came home to the smell of smoke and one of the cords, while not connected to a phone, was smoking. I'm lucky this wasn't the cord that's usually on the carpet next to by bed. This thing is a fire hazard.

This connector is so easy to use and very nice quality. If you have a newer iPhone this is a must have to charge your phone and play music at the same time

Works as advertised. Did not notice any reduce in music quality whatsoever. Way chraper compared to the name brand version. Would highly recommend.

This cord was faulty it ended up smoking immediately while I was driving o the highway
