A convenient read and beautiful collectible at a great price!
About the book: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lord_of_the_RingsAbout this particular copy: It is a very handy and compact copy of moderate weight, quite perfect for carrying it around with ease. The print is clear enough and legible. The cover design is taken from an illustration by J. R. R, Tolkien himself, and the golden engraving on glossy red paper looks quite appealing. If you are looking for a copy which serves as a convenient read as well as a beautiful collectible at an awesome price then this is the book you should go for. It includes various prefaces and introductions by Christopher Tolkien, and also many comprehensive appendices about the history and background of the story, different characters and their respective worlds. It might be possible that you may receive a copy with misprints or some blank pages, so make sure you thoroughly examine your copy after you receive it. If there is any flaw, then return it and get easy replacement.

Excellent book
I have read a dozen or so paperbacks at this point and none of them quite well made. The pages open happily and the typesetting is quite good, kudos to who ever had the idea of using monotype plantin as the font (some people have issues regarding font size, but I find book very comfortable to read. I find bigger font sizes a bit juvenile). Above all the paper has quite good texture making the book inviting to read. Caveat : the 3 in 1 combined edition with red cover (one I have), is quite bulky, not heavy - bulky. So if you like reading your books sleeping or some way you require to hold it up, I'd suggest to go with the edition where the books are split. As for the literary stuff and the plot etc, I cannot comment; all I would like to say is I love reading it. I find excuse to stop whatever I'm doing and start reading this book, yes it is that good. There are quite a few difficult words for which you'd like to have a dictionary by your side. I find the Tolkien's picturization quite vivid and detailed. All in all I'd like to say the hype surrounding this book is true, so very true.I'm completely sold on Tolkien's middle earth. I'll re-read this book for sure and definitely looking forward to reading other works concerning the middle earth

Epic, Grand, Remarkable
Gorgeously thick. I literally love reading a thick book. The individual books of TLOR are just 300-400 pages thick. You gotta get a book that reflects the grandeur of the story within and this one is it. Must order. People who are saying that the fonts are too small should just read fairy tales where fonts are huge and the books have coloured pictures. This is a novel you guys. The fonts are perfectly normal with respect to the kind of book that you are holding. You don’t care about the fonts while reading something like this. Same goes for A Song Of Ice And Fire. If the fonts are ‘toooo’ small then well don’t read but these ones are perfect, when comparing with other novels

Update on my review
[Update on 25/06/15]- I've finished reading the book, and it's a wonderful read, truly a masterpiece! Here are some further details on this book/edition :- in a way I'm answering some of the queries I had myself after viewing this book here, prior to purchasing it. The product description was quite accurate- I received the same book shown here. Trivialities aside- This front and back covers fold out as the two maps drawn by Tolkien. It also has the single page 'Map of the Shire' inside, and the few other inner illustrations- such as the engraving upon the doors of the Mines of Moria, the lettering on the Ring in the Elven script etc; in addition to several appendices, including Runes and writing systems, background information, and family trees, all originally part of the book. I really do recommend this edition. On the other hand, besides that the quality of the type leaves a little something here and there to be desired, as all three parts of this epic novel are in a single book, the book is really very thick!..too thick for holding comfortably while reading. This is one huge book! (Because of this, I'd say a three-book boxed set of The Rings would be easier on the arms and make the reading more comfortable.) Also, because of the thickness, the pages may come apart after some reasonable wear. The magnificent spine looks great on my bookshelf, though! Great edition as a general reading copy or otherwise.

True fantasy and adventure and a great and excellent book
Excellent book. Good to read. Small fonts but that's not such a big problem. The cover is worthy for the price we pay, thin. A great book overall and the best adventure novel I've ever seen. Though its boring to read the beginning of the journey, when frodo leaves the hobbit lands and the old forest road, the story brings out its true fantasy and fiction and tempts us to read through suspense later on till the end of the book. The appendices give great detail on the Tolkein's world, Arda. You will never lose interest in this book once you understand the Tolkein's world.

I am not going to write how good the story is, because let's accept the fact. This is The LOTR we all are talking about . Everyone who is scrolling through the review section already knows how good this masterpiece is.This review is specifically about the 50th Anniversary Hardbound edition book. The binding is awesome.Pages are crisp. All the maps of places like Shire,Rohan etc. are there. You will get this book as Tolkien's original writing.i.e words by words same not a single letter changed. So have a fun and go for it.

Worth the Money!
this review is for the all-in-one 2004 edition of the lord of the rings by harper collins publisher.Worth the money for those who don't want to buy some high cost editions. the font is bit on smaller side but its still crisp and very legible although reading the maps is a bit pain. the book is bulky as it is all-in-one and even though its says paperback the cover is hard enough to keep the book intact. the cover art is simple yet elegant.superb buy and be careful to buy from a trusted and tested seller.

Soft matte cover, smooth pages, single volume paperback
This Lord of the Rings, 50th Edition Paperback edition has a soft matte cover; the book feels so nice to hold, I had not expected that. The pages are smooth, and of very good quality. Book arrived in perfect condition, and at its original book cover price (thank you, seller!).

Amazing looking book
I am a huge Lord of the Rings fan and this must be one of the best looking books made. Just love it.

Assoluto capolavoro
