Absolute quality backpack
Absolute quality, brought as a medium between a day pack and a hiking pack, for days out and lightweight overnight wild camps. Its comfortable, highly adjustable and has loads of features. In about 177cm and brought the M/L fits very well and you can cinch it close you your back. Side pockets for water bottles could be a bit bigger but still 5 stars.

Robust
Bought to replace my 12 year old 38 kestrelThe new version is much improved with a few extra features plus much better hip belt and larger pouch on the back and better ventilation.I suspect the capacity is a little bigger.I find it more comfortable than the Osprey Talon tho a few ounces more. Not the lightest of packs but will outlast many others by a long way.

Great size
Haven't used on a hike yet but the bag is sturdy, well made with plenty of space with deep side pockets. Includes rain cover and a designated compartment for water bladder. Material seem though and strong. looking forward to using it soon

Good quality backpack
Used for the first time on the Camino de Santiago in Spain. Very well designed and good quality. Space was about right.

Outstanding
Outstanding bag, have done around 100 miles in it over bad conditions and is very sturdy. A little in the heavy side for the size pack but flexibility is great. Would recommend for anyone looking for a over night camp bag or multi day trek.

A strong well made pack.
A really well made pack. It is very adjustable and I find it comfortable even with heavy loads. It is a relatively heavy pack but seems very bombproof and I expect it will give me years of hard use.

It's okay, but it has a few niggles
I've been hillwalking on an almost weekly basis since 1996, so I know a thing or two about rucksacks, waterproof clothing and boots. I bought this rucksack to downgrade from my standard larger rucksack. On the plus side, as I'm getting older, it's a lighter rucksack. I like the two side pockets as they will hold a good sized bottle or flask. Here are the downsides. I thought that I would really like the zipped pockets on the waist belt. I've put plasters and stuff in them but I’ve hardly used them and often forget that they’re there. They’re not waterproof either. When we sit down for a break, we both have a kneeling pad that we sit on. My old rucksack had a space where I could specifically store the kneeling pad in a separate compartment, right down the back of the sack, but this one doesn't. Finally, I like to walk with my thumbs in the chest strap. Unfortunately, the chest strap pulls away from the rucksack fairly easily and it's come away about four times now. It’s easy enough to put back but I wish I would have known beforehand. It’s okay, but I would change a few things.

Real human size review
First off, Osprey bags are phenomenal, I own 4. I have Kestrel 48 for thru hiking.I bought this Kestrel 38 for shorter hikes or day hikes and I feel that this size is perfect for that,REAL LIFE SIZING:I am a 5'7" male, I'm not thin. I weigh 189lbs, 43" around chest at nipple level, 43' around at belly button level, 20" from C7 vertebra to lumbar. With that being said S/M was too small.Exchanged for M/L.If you feel like an average sized person as I do... M/L is for you.TIP>>> If you bought on Amazon and need to exchange, call Back Country directly to do the exchange, this way you'll avoid a $6.99 Amazon label fee.

I've used this daily for six months and it's still going strong.
I was looking through purchases to see if I should review anything and decided to comment on this pack's durability. I've used it daily for six months with no problems. The rain cover keeps it dry. The zippers are holding up.Should note that I believe the small/medium is actually a 36L not 38 like the name infers, but you might want to double check with Osprey docs (I know it's less...). Also, the 2018 model still has a side zipper. Or did when I bought it. Unless there's a new revision I'd expect yours should too. Anyhow, great pack!
