StrykerRadios SR-497-HPC AM/FM 10M RADIO

When I first received this I thought I had received an older version 1 because the box indicates this. However, after opening it up, it is indeed the newer version 2 with 12 colors, and an updated power cord and plug.Do NOT take this to be ‘peaked and tuned’! There is no need. Watch a YouTube video on the 11 meter frequency conversion. All you do is move a plastic jumper with a pair of tweezers. It takes, literally, 5 seconds once the cover is off.Now, as to performance- this is a stock radio and is peaking at 104 watts on my quality digital watt meter. No amateurish whistling, just simple voice. Don’t be fooled by some shop that says they can get 120 watts or more out of this. You don’t need the 16 more watts. Don’t fall for all the hype.For transmit modulation and clarity, I tested out 4 mics, including the stock Stryker mic. I settled on an old Turner RK 56 hand mic. The signal is actually stunning. From my first DX contact until last night, I am asked what I’m talking on because the audio signal is so punchy and clear.So, don’t hesitate on this radio. Don’t waste money getting it ‘peaked and tuned.’ It is amazing right out of the box.

Stryker Radios are one of the best radios money can buy. They are powerful and beautiful. Good listeners. Cord comes out the front and I like that. The one I got needed a new power mos fet maybe? I had to send it back. I suspect it was a store take back. I could have fixed it maybe but I didnt want to take the chance. Sometimes IC chips get blown then I cant fix it. I sent it back. I suspect someone reversed the polarity and took it back to the store. Yes Im guessing it may have been a take back radio. The Stryker SR 497 is rare and I would have like to have fixed it but I was not sure exactly what its problem was. The CB was in perfect new condition visually with not a scratch on it. It was mint. I have to expect a radio to be working for the price tag it had. So I sent it back because it would not come on. Maybe someday I will be the proud owner of a Stryker Radio. In the mean time linear amps are just as good to get out with or better and not so big a price tag.

Does a great job Lots of audio. Very pleased will be getting the 955 also.

One of the best radios my striker. Love it. I’ve already talked to Kansas City New York. I’ve talked all over the world so far and this radio is putting out 150 W shooting really good skip and the Local guys think it’s a base station.

Came in box with mount, hardware, and a mic. Easy hookup, everything works. Had to YouTube a couple things like how to switch it over to a CB and common tune I could use but was pretty simple to figure out. Would buy again.

Had it for about two weeks, power is fantastic as well as setting the deadkey as follows at 15W. It’ll swing, if you are wanting to do the conversion there is videos out there to watch, but it’s the V1 not V2!

First I did not work!! After unpacking it was obvious someone had opened the case..Screws missing case not tight..Also didn’t send power cord..bought one just to find out CB did not WORK!!!! Maybe this seller should make sure the product WORKS before shipping!! ZERO STARS!!!! Think you owe me money for the power cord I bought!!!!

Love the speakers on the Strykers, no need for external speakers. Kicks a whole lot of watts out of the box. The only 2 cons on this radio is, you have to covert it to talk channel 19 TRUCKERS, and Mic, but is not a big deal on the mic, matter of preference.
