Handy ArtLittle Masters Tempera Paint, Pack of 1, White

I'm thinking this paint could be expired. My students are painting with it today and my classroom stinks like fish. This is common with tempera paint. Also seems to be quite thin and requires several coats for coverage. Checked for an expiration date on the gallon itself but didn't see one. Hope this helps!
