If, like me, you went to a hotel recently that provided Malin+Goetz products, and were absolutely delighted by the rum bar soap, you will be sorely disappointed by this larger version. This is not the same soap.The miniature soap had a subtle, sweet but complex aroma unlike anything I have smelled before with hints of the dark rum used in the perfume, and made washing a true delight. However, this large bar has an overpoweringly artificial and cloying floral scent, reminiscent of cheap perfume mixed with clothing detergent, and with none of the subtlety or rum scent of the hotel bar.As I brought some unused hotel soap home with me, a direct comparison between the two reveals not only are the scents completely different, but so are the formulations, and their provenance - the hotel soap was made in Italy with Rum Tonic EDT, while the large bar was made in the USA with Dark Rum fragrance. The quantities of other ingredients have also been changed.Judging from the pre-pandemic comments, this soap may have been excellent in the past. However, in its present formulation from its US production, it is nothing at all like the incredible soap I used while on vacation, and I would strongly advise any prospective buyer to avoid this soap.
