A State Of Trance Yearmix 2008

Armin Van Buren knows what he's about when creating an excellent, diverse compilation mix. This one flows pretty seamlessly from track to track once you get past the hugely annoying 1st track. I don't like it when DJs try to inflate what it is they're doing by adding undertones of spiritual significance. Just mix good music; that's all I care about. Thankfully the CD is beginning-to-end fantastic with a great flow and energetic vibe to the mix. My only complaint is that superior tracks are given roughly the same amount of space as the more generic material. At times I wanted AVB to stick with a stronger track for more than the :50-1:30 allotted. I think I probably prefer AVB's "State of Trance" compilations because I tend to enjoy longer continuous tracks over one 2hr mix, but I still greatly enjoyed this album and can easily recommend it to anyone who is into Armin's stuff.4/5 Stars

Wow! I downloaded the mix off his radio show last week and it is incredible. Usually I break the tracks up with some software so I can change to each song (it comes in a continuos mix otherwise) faster. But, this mix is so good there's no need to break up the tracks! Each song is a portion of the best part of that song. I am buying this CD to support Armin for his hard work and I want it for my collection. It's unbelieveable how hard he works to put this mix together. On his State of Trance 2007 broadcast last year he mentioned the mix takes up to 2 months to complete with over 2000 edits. I am sure this one took the same amount of time and effort. Truly amazing how he does it. Get this if you can. It's the best mix of the year by far!

This is my only my opinion. I've been listening to Trance music for a while now and while I don't consider myself an expert, I can say that the track selection was definitely very good and I guess matches the voting that went on for AVB to complile this track listing. I didn't give this 2-CD set 5 stars not because I don't like AVB or the track selection. My thing is with the mixing. Since AVB was voted as the best DJ, I think his mixing skills could've been better here. The continuity doesn't flow all that well evenly. I mean, I know all these are all different tracks and it's a challenge mixing them and the final product to turn out as if all tracks belonged tied into each other. The skill of mixing worked with some tracks and not with a lot others. The only reason why I'm so critical here is because of AVB's "A State of Trance: 2006 and others that I loved so much. This is the 1st YEAREND Mix I've purchased and will not buy another. I'll just wait for AVB's next live recording.

This album is a nonstop movement through 2008. I seem to always get tingles at the mixing and transition between The Blizzard's remix of In And Out of Love by Armin into Pepe's Garden...just something about that transition that Armin pulls off.I would highly recommend this album for anyone that was just impressed with the tunes pumped out during 2008.

2008 had a lot of great trance tracks, and this is a great compilation of them. I even like the CD text. It's perfect as 2 cds for a party you're having, the gym, or just a drive or train ride home. Highly recommended.

The master Guru of trance, takes us into a journey of the best tracks of 2008 in a very well mixed 2 Discs.Recommended.

Not much to say other than this service was excellent and the product arrived in excellent condition and the speed of the delivery was as good as expected.

A work of art! The set from track 37 onward on disk one is epic. Well done AVB - another amazing release.

Briefly, I first listened to this in one hit on a long drive and I can't recall a run on the A1 that I've enjoyed more! I've got nearly all the year mix CDs and this is probably my favourite, it is non stop trance and full of uplifting stuff and many now classic tracks. If you don't have this one amongst your year mix collection then buy it immediately!

A great mix of tunes that when worked in together provide a fantast melange of lights, darks, mellows and highs. Good work Armin, looking forward to acquiring much more in the future.

I've always enjoyed AvB's mixes as does by nephew for whom I bought this as a Christmas present. It went down a real storm!
