Best of the Chew Guard Brand Toys - these last as long as the good ole boys on Duck Dynasty
I first purchased these Duck dog toys at a Dollar Tree in Brookings, OR and each were just $1.00. What a fabulous deal so I bought four of them. Then I returned a day later to buy all the had and the store was sold out. I recognized the Chew Guard company as one where I had purchased the stuff Dragons my dogs enjoyed so much. They especially like the Ducks because of the "honk" versus the traditional squeak. The Ducks have held up better than the Dragons. I have tossed them into the wash (probably not recommended) when they got dirty and they came out fine with the honker in tact. I've probably washed the first round of Ducks maybe 6 times each after getting drug through the dirt, snow, and accumulation of crunchy dog saliva. A piece of foot might have gotten chewed off here and there but the main body of the Ducks remain just fine. A bit a sewing and ER (emergency repair) of appendages fixing the Duck took much less time than repairs to the Dragons. My dogs are 55 and 65 lbs with teeth like gators. I bought two of the Dragons and one Duck this time and of course they both want the Duck. Guess I"m going to have to buy another one of them. But they are a good investment. My first round of Ducks are over two years old and may not look pleasing to my eyes but functionally they still work great. The Dragons don't hold up as well as the Ducks. I've washed and repaired both kinds many times. Purchased replacement squeakers for the Dragons and make a surgical incision down the belly to remove and replace the defective and worn out squeakers. But these Ducks just keep going and going. Even with repeated washing and drying they still work just fine. I would only retire them when they got so dirty that the washing machine and dryer just can not rehabilitate them. But that may be another couple years. Dog toys don't last years in my household. The Chew Guard brand has worked the best for me. They are not however, chew proof. No stuff toy is chew proof or at least I have never found one and I buy many stuffed toys.I honestly don't care about the Duck Dynasty character Ducks and with the first ones I cut off the little brown beards as they were just too tempting to chew on. Don't know which character I marred by cutting off their beard. Despise the chew-tempting little pieces their construction and endurance is remarkable. I've play a little bit of tug with them but not much cause the honker might get damaged and I don't know if I can replace them. My younger dog constantly does the kill shake with all her stuffed toys and the Ducks endure. The Dragons have endured the kill shakes but the stuffing has slightly moved to either end of the Dragon body.I would highly recommend the Ducks in the Chew Guard Brand even if you have no interest in the Duck Dynasty TV series or characters. They are very, very well constructed, sturdy toys that last for years. However, an unsupervised, aggressive chewer could destroy these. Supervision and correction of chewing behaviors is essential. It took several times catching the younger girl chewing of the Duck's feet and letting her know I did not like that behavior for her to stop. Take some repetition but chewing, like any behavior can be modified. I provide appropriate alternative chewing toys and treats like Bully Sticks to satisfy their need to chew.

Best chew toy ever made
This is without question the most durable, best chew toy on the face of the planet. We bought one and a week later bought three more for future use. My dog still hasn't been able to tear apart even the first one. She can usually get the stuffing and squeaker out in less than an hour. It's been weeks and the toy is still 90% in tact. Just missing one wing. Really really good toy. I can't rate it highly enough.

so i was initially thinking this was a great design.
Ripped apart immediately. The arms and legs are sewn separately, so i was initially thinking this was a great design.. she ripped each limb off one by one but didn't get to the body. but the bill is part of the main body.. that came off in a heart beat and then opened up all the guts and squeaker. I took it away, emptied it and now she's just looking at me sadly with a dead, limp carcass in her mouth.

Not made to last
I bought this toy for my Shepard mix, she had it for about 40 minutes before I heard it rip apart. I was able to get it and through it away before this one got eaten (I bought another for my other dog that did get eaten). I looked for toys that where well made and tough. This was not, I have had other toys that have lasted a year. I would not recommend this toy for anyone with big dogs.

Need to sew parts on with good thread
If you don't mind sewing the head back on with decent thread, this toy is okay. I have two labs and they had the head off in ten minutes. I always end up sewing the parts back on with good thread and then they last a long time.

My Dog Can't LIve Without Duck Dynasty Phil
My adopted dog, Coco, came to me with this toy. She is pretty rough on her play things so the old one suffered a traumatizing neck injury. I was going to sew it but then saw that the same toy was being sold here at a reasonable price. i don't know how old the last one was but the one I got from Amazon has survived throwing/fetching, being flung around by its neck, and tug of war with her foster brothers. Coco also uses it as a 'pleasure toy'. LOL. So far, it still looks good.

My black lab loves this thing!
My black labrador retriever loves this thing! I purchased another one some time ago but the squeaker has been silenced and the exterior is showing wear. Surprisingly, it hasn't been torn apart like past toys. It's very durable. This one is constructed with the same material and will probably last another few years. My dog loves to play tug-of-war with it so I'm very careful not to pull the toy by holding on to the neck. He also likes to play retrieve with it.
