Apparently a reprint
Looks useful. Is apparently a reprint of an old guide that appears to date to the 1920s, but the copyright page shows none of that.

Great book for POCKET WATCH Enthusiasts - not for Wrist Watches

Basic, but still useful
A decent book for someone who knows little at all, but too basic for anyone who has already started delving in and is just looking for a more thorough presentation of what's involved. It does provide some useful information on technique and such, but may not be for everyone.

Excellent introduction into the basics of Horology and mechanical watch maintenance.
It is neither too verbose nor too terse in its introductions and explanations. The visuals provided show you what they need to. Out of all the Horological introductory books I've read I would probably recommend this one first for people with an interest in sampling the study of timekeeping (Horology). In my opinion; if this book does not leave you yearning for more then you can reasonably conclude that horological pursuits are not your cup of tea.

Great diagrams, writing style a little outdated.
The diagrams are great and easy to look at. The writing style is more like prose than a technical book, but what can you expect for 1948..
