My grandson has three sisters. Two of them love dolls. They do not appreciate an eighteen month old baby brother stealing their dolls. But he loved pushing them in strollers and pulling them in wagons. He likes cuddling them. Naturally Nana bought him his own doll. His now grown boy cousins shared a big baby doll named Cookie who had many exciting adventures. Who knows what this little doll will get up to. The only reason not to buy a small boy a doll is if you do not want him to grow up to be a warm and nurturing father.
