Bright, chewy goji berries that work great in tea and snacks
Iโve tried a few different brands of dried goji berries over the years, and these Viva Naturals Organic Dried Goji Berries (1 lb) are one of the better ones Iโve had. The berries are soft and chewy rather than overly dry, with a pleasant sweet-tart flavor that makes them easy to snack on by the handful. The berries look clean and well sorted with very few stems or broken pieces. The resealable pouch is also a nice touch because it keeps them fresh after opening. These goji berries are USDA organic, non-GMO, vegan, and gluten-free, which makes them a convenient snack for a variety of diets. Taste & Texture The flavor is mildly sweet with a slightly tangy finish. If youโve never had goji berries before, the taste is somewhere between a cranberry and a raisin. Theyโre chewy but not tough, which I appreciate because some brands can be overly dry. Ways Iโve Used Them Goji berry tea (steeped in hot water for about 10 minutes) Tossed into oatmeal and yogurt Mixed into trail mix with nuts and dark chocolate Added to smoothies and baked goods They add a nice pop of color and flavor to breakfast bowls. Nutrition Goji berries are often considered a โsuperfoodโ because they contain nutrients like iron, fiber, vitamin C, and antioxidants. ๏ฟฝ Viva Naturals Minor Note The berries are naturally sticky, which is normal for dried fruit, but if you prefer a firmer texture you might want to store them in the fridge. Final Thoughts Overall, this is a solid, high-quality bag of organic goji berries. If you enjoy dried fruit snacks or want a nutritious addition to smoothies, oatmeal, or tea, this 1-lb bag offers good value and flavor. โญ Rating: 5/5 โ Good flavor and texture โ Organic and clean ingredients โ Versatile for tea, snacks, and baking

A highly recommend Organic Goji for the kitchen!
I purchased this one as I run out of Goji Berries. It is organic. Last year I purchased another organic Goji which has two bags. Compared to that one, this is more fresh, and sweet. The Goji berries look bigger as well. Basically I used them when I drink hot tea. The sugar content is decent compared to others. There is no odor at all. I feel this product is dry enough. I put them into glass bottles to keep it dry and easy use. All in all I highly recommend this one.

definititivly a good product, also a good company (I think)
pros: I adore this product. I like to blend up a couple Tsps or Tbsps of gojis and coco nibs in a coffee grinder (separate from the coffee! You'll never filter it out without cheese cloth) and mix it into my morning coffee with a whisk. -Flavor! I'm so looking forward to baking with gojis -Delicious with ice cream (ben and jerries pistachio, kill me now) when frozen they have a fantastic crunch. -Only purchased one bag so far of this brand and I'm hoping they always come as dry as this bag; I bought truvibe's first and they were not as dry and so even stickier on the teeth and slightly harder to eat imo. cons: -They are delicious on their own as a snack but very sticky on the teeth, look out for sensitive filling, braces etc. -I tried re-hydrating them but ended up composting most of the batch, they're very slimy. -(the big grudge) The nutrition label claims there is around 60g of protein in this 1lb bag, maybe slightly more even, I don't have the bag in front of me. I don't believe that for a freaking second. 60g of protein is a half pound of steak! The FDA DOES NOT APPROVE NUTRITION LABELS! They issue recalls then and if they feel like it. Do your own research! Viva Labs, amend your label!!!!! I estimate that there is closer to 10-20 grams of protein in this 1 pound bag. Viva Labs sent me an email 5 days after I received the product offering to donate $10 to "Vitamin Angels, a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing child mortality worldwide by providing children with essential vitamins and minerals" for every newly posted review (positive or negative I assume). I know nothing about this charity but it seems a fantastic offer if vitamin angels and viva labs do indeed follow through on their promises. I loved the product but probably wouldn't have taken the time out of my day to write as comprehensive as a review of this product, despite the fact that I am enjoying it at this very moment, without this soft of kind hearted offer. Even if that $10 donation is a lie, and I don't believe it is, or if every kid that my own $10 donation goes to dies of starvation despite this effort, I wanted to mention it because I believe it's a beautiful business model and you never know who you might inspire in the unlikeliness of venues.

Plump up in tea, good taste, seem to be doing good things!
Did some research and saw info where Goji berries could help kidneys. Read reviews and decided on these. Glad I did. My kidney function is improving, not completely certain if from berries but time will tell. Eating dry ok but prefer in my hot tea. Juice up and taste good.

Quality and quantity
This is the second time I've purchased this bag. I like the quality of the goji berries, they are a little chewy and not hard kind of like drier dried cranberries. Great for smoothies or teas or even trail mix. The pink color is beautiful. I like that these are non-gmo and organic. The only bummer is the seal failed and I can't keep the bag closed so I transferred them to a mason jar, which actually looks lovely anyway:)

Not dried enough: addendum possibly toxic to you (depending on the individual)
I purchased this when there was "lighting deal" promotion. Thus I am thankful that I did not overspend. This Goji berries were slightly moist. i.e. It was not 100% dry. Due to the moistness, I stored it in the refrigerator after transferring them to the big Mason Jar. However, by chilling, the syrup left between the berries got hardened and berries got stuck together. They also got stuck to the inner surface of the jar, very difficult to pick berries from the jar. The berries had some green particles here and there on the surfaces; perhaps, some particles from the plants such as leaves? They did not seem to be mold. The taste and the freshness were quite acceptable. However, since I am used to very dry Goji Berries that are for the Chinese Medicinal Tea, this partial moistness and hardening by chilling was quite annoying. They definitely needed to be soaked in water for several hours until it is soft enough to chew. Therefore, I did not see the points in making not drying enough before packing by the producer. Perhaps, eating the berries as snack out of the package was intended for Western consumers, *** P.S. Be aware that the Goji in general has slight toxicity, know side effects in China and Japan are 1. affect the hormone balance -> woman may become infertile, and/or the menstruation comes earlier than regular time, 2. Stomach Upset -diarrhea etc. 3. Allergic reaction - skin rash etc. 4. headache, esp. when you are on PMS or on the menstruation. My husband became seriously ill after 20 min of eating Goji berries, and it happened in repeated manners. My headache was worsened before during and after menstruation, to the extreme degree. You should google the side effects of Goji berries before purchasing. Viva brand in particular has more bad effects on us, since we have never had these symptoms before. Thus I assume that what we got had more toxins in it. Also, these berries are much redder and bright color than what you can get at Asian grocery stores. That means, perhaps, they add sulfur to keep color fresh and vivid. That may affect your digestion depending on the individual. I will not buy Goji ever again, because I don't want to suffer. Even in Japan, the common sense is that Goji's maximum daily intake is 2g. (It is between 10-20 pieces.) Thus do not exceed that amount. Goji is for medicinal uses in Eastern Asia, not for topping for ice cream and yogurt. This is not raisin. So be aware. This toxicity has nothing to do with detox. So be smart enough not to think this is any kind of cleanse thing.
