"All the Essentials-from Leaf to Cup": A Misleading Title
Having recently switched from coffee to tea, I was eager to learn more about how to make tea to make it more appealing to me, as it takes more than just plopping a tea bag into a microwaved mug full of tap water. I had absolutely no idea where to begin to look for information so I bought this book. What I do appreciate about this book is that it provides a perfect beginner's guide into the history of tea. That's great! I actually learned something new from that! I was able to get through all of that in about 25 minutes. The watercolor illustrations are cute but not necessarily informative. What I was a bit upset about was that there was very little information about how to prepare tea, the differences between tea, different types of sweeteners used for tea, etc. There was no information on Pu'Erh teas, Darjeeling teas, etc. That's alright, I get that, since they aren't considered "real" teas (which I learned from reading this book!). It's an informative book, yes, but being such a novice tea preparer,I was looking for something more of a "step-by-step guide into choosing and properly preparing tea."My search continues and I would rather stay away from the info-flood that is a Google search. Like I stated in the headline, the title is misleading-which is mainly the reason why I bought this book in the first place. If anyone does know of an "Essential Tea Preparing Guide," please let me know!

A beautifully designed and informative primer on tea
This is the kind of casually informative and beautifully illustrated book that my in-laws would keep in a guest bathroom, but hides a surprisingly intelligent discussion of high-quality tea inside. It is not a comprehensive education on tea for the near-expert (though Sebastian could probably write such a book), but instead gives a thorough overview of tea history, processing, and enjoyment. It’s neither too intimidating for the novice tea-drinker, nor too simplistic for the veteran, and it is all punctuated with beautiful photographs and watercolor illustrations to perfectly accompany the written content.

Outstanding tea book!
I love my oolong and I've got a large tea book library. This book packs a lot of information (some of it new to me) into its pages. It's engaging, informative, well-written and beautifully illustrated. I would absolutely recommend it to any tea lover.

It is as it was described.
I am giving it as a Christmas present to someone who drinks hot tea. It looks as if it will be perfect as such.

very nice little book for "tea" beginners
The book is what it promises to be "a little book of tea". Perfect for beginners. It's a pleasant summary of the most important points you need to know about tea, very well written with interesting stories and beautiful photos. If you (like me) did not know where all the tea types come from, what's the difference between japanese and chinese tea, or what has to do the boiling temperature with the tea taste that's your book! Perfect if you do not know where to start learning. Thanks to this book my green tea will never taste bitter again :)
