Most range I've seen in a TV mount
I was looking for a tv mount that could turn almost completely to one side of the room and this one does! Very sturdy, simple instructions for installation... definitely a two person job though, it's heavy! Hold our 40" tv well.

Sturdy and well made. Very good instructions.
This product is quite sturdy made of all steel parts. For me, the TV needed to go between wall studs, so a bracket that could be attached to the studs on either side of the center was critical. This model was about half the price of a similar item at my local big box store. Mounting a TV on a fully articulating arm is a complicated project if you need the TV to be precisely located, so many of the challenges below would exist no matter what product you buy (measuring vertically, holding up a heavy bracket while trying to drive screws, setting the arm left/right properly, etc.)I thought the instructions and packaging were superb. All parts were individually packaged and labeled (A, B, C, etc.) to make it really easy to cross reference to the instructions. The instructions were clear, and there was an online video walking you through the installation. It also came with a "template" for where to drill the holes that had a nifty "tray" at the bottom to catch all the dust from drilling holes. Because I was mounting in a cabinet, I really needed to make sure the TV was mounted veritcally where I wanted it. So, my only wish for the instructions would be a little more info on how far the bracket needed to be mounted to place the top of the TV in the right place. I ended up doing lots of measuring and fraction math to make sure I was drilling the holes int he right place. That would have taken the instructions and packaging from a solid A to an A+. Take comfort, though: the vertical brackets that connect the TV to the articulating arm have lots of holes and can compensate a little if the rails are a little high or low -- just so long as they don't stick out above the top of the TV or below it (which would just be an eye sore). The bracket is quite heavy, as it should be to hold the TV extended from the wall. (I think the bracket actually weighs more than my 49" LED TV). I was working by myself, so I decided it would be very difficult (if not impossible) to hold the bracket on the wall and drive the screws. So, because I was mounting it by myself on the wall above the fireplace, I decided to take it apart to install the rails first, then mount the articulating arm in the rails. I had to be careful to make sure the rails were parallel, but the mounting template got me in the right spot, and I just needed to fine-tune with a level when I tightened the bolts on the wall.My only real issue was loosening the screws that mount the "articulating arm" left to right in the bracket rails. This is the reason for the lost star in the rating. The head on my biggest phillips-head screwdriver wasn't quite large enough, and I was stripping the heads trying to get them loose. I even tried grabbing them with pliers, and that didn't work either. I think stripping the screw heads was a combination of 1) the wrong sized tool, 2) the fact that they were crazy tight (I mean, why should they be that tight?), and that 3) I think the steel in the screws themselves was a little soft. I actually ended up taking it to a local family-owned hardware store to get help. After some lubricant, the right sized screwdriver, some banging and some grunting, the fellow got them loose (probably took a total of 10 minutes once we got started). Everything was pretty easy after I got the screws loose, although I learned that the articulating arm doesn't mount in the middle to have the TV be in the middle (look at where the plate is on the wall, not where the articulating arm attaches to the rails). Didn't realize that until I hung the TV and it was not centered on the articulating arm. Made me realize how important the safety set screw is once the TV is in place because if it slides off that plate, the TV will end up on the floor. A little "lip" at either end of the articulating arm bracket would eliminate the possibility of that from happening if the safety screw wasn't tight. That could be a product improvement. All in all quite satisfied now that the installation is done.

GREAT STURDY DESIGN...SWIVEL JOINTS NOT EXACTLY SQUARE and QUICK ATTACH LOOSE
Very well designed and manufactured mount, excellent quality. However, the one we received, the swivel joints are not welded exactly square. The mount is very adjustable so one can compensate some, however if you level the TV while the mount is retracted against the wall, and then extend the TV outward, it will no longer be level, as the joints are not exact. However I have seen this same issue in other brand mounts. If you do not frequently retract or extend, then not an issue. Ours is in a cabinet and so is extended when viewing...so when we retract the TV/Mount, we have to rotate level to get inside the cabinet, and then when we go to extend, have to level the TV again once extended. Other reviewers have commented on the leveling, and perhaps are unaware it is a design/manufacturing issue with the multiple swivels. Also, some creative genius (not) at the company changed one of the mounting brackets to the TV where one will lock onto the mount plate, where the other is a quick attach, so does not lock. As other reviewers have stated, this can be a problem as the TV can slide sideways when extending and retracting. In our case, we fabricated changes to the quick attach, and converted it to a locking style, so now both TV brackets lock to the mounting plate. Much more sturdier. Frankly, the manufacturer should know better.Since I have worked in OEM manufacturing for motorsports and aircraft where we need exact tight tolerances, this mount is indeed well designed, but something happened with the manufacturing process where the alignment on the swivels is not 100% correct, hence the transitioning from level to not level when extending and retracting. Still one of the better mounts for this style, so would buy again as better than most others. My 2c.

A quality product
Overall this seems to be a very good product, a quality unit. The installation of the brackets to the tv was not as advertised though. None of the mounting screws fit the tv mounting holes either so a trip to the hardware store was necessary ... a disappointment given the over abundance of optional screws included with the mount. On this particular Sony KDL40R350D the brackets do not fit such that the wall mount can be centered behind the tv and the brackets can not be mounted without spacers under the brackets due to a significant lip on the tv case at the bottom. In many cases this would not be a problem but I wanted to install the mount in a recess within a bookcase and it would have been infinitely easier to simply center the mount in the space instead of having to figure out how to center the tv bracket first. Fortunately it wasn't my first time with a tape measure & level so those tools and a little bit of math got it figured out. The mount works as advertised and but for those two glitches I would have given it 5 stars.

Fully adjustable, offset arm
Just what I needed. Most tv mounts have the arm in the center which caused me issues since the power and AV plugs where at that location. This mount has the arm offset, able to slide on a rail, and has a fully open back; all that was needed for me to mount our TV properly since our studs were also off center (18 inch apart but this can do 24 inch). This is the only mount I found that could work and seems to be made well at a good price for being relatively unique design compared to all the other mounts I looked at.

Requires precise measurements and leveling
It was hard to get level. It is a good mount overall but you must be very precise when mounting or the leveling will be off.

Game changing mount
This mount is a game changer. You can use it to center a tv on a wall that has studs that may not be in an ideal place. It works with stud spacing up to 24" and allows you to centre the tv perfectly.

Great product overall
Installation had a few hiccups, screws feel a bit cheap, one broke while installing on the wall. But since I only needed 4 and it came with 6 it wasn't a major issue.Product feels solid and sturdy, TV fits well and turns and pulls like it said it would. Love that I was able to center it on my wall, thanks to the large wall-plate and the ajustable anchor point for the arm. This was the only product that fitted all my requirements AND was reasonably priced. Big stores sold those for 300$+!!

Solid as a rock
I love this thing. We needed a mount that would swing the TV out a long way from it's towed position. This thing does it. Lots of flexibility to set it up just the way you like it.

Excellent value for a sturdy wall mount that exceeds the features of other makes of similar devices.
I liked that the 24 inch base allowed for more side to side adjustment even for studs that are 16 inches on center.

nice and sturdy
We needed one to extend at least 20". This one did. Its is nice and solid, a good price and arrived quickly.
