Q: Can you extend the length to 33 1/2"?

This is a solid, fixed piece. It does not extend.

Q: Will these covers be able to be used on a counter top gas stove with knobs on top --not in front as your pics show???

The standard dimensions of our covers are: Interior 20.5"D x 28.5" x 1.75"H Exterior 22"D x 30"L x 2.5"H You would need to measure and find out interior and exterior dimensions and check the height of your burners to see if our standard interior clearance of 1.75" will work for your range. :)
