Great external hard drive

I needed a new external hard drive right away because my old one was totally corrupted. This model was recommended for my needs by an AppleCare Advisor. I received it in less than a day with free shipping which was great. It is small, good looking and light and takes up very little space on my computer table. Installing the device was easy and it did a full backup immediately and has been reliable ever since. My computer is a mac which has the feature Time Machine that sends data hourly. So far so good after just over a month but.....it's too soon to make a final evaluation.

This is s#!t, seriously. I don't think I've written more than a couple of reviews on amazon before, but this is just straight up bs. I received the hard drive on May 25th, since then it has been exclusively used for a ps4. Therefore, it remains plugged into the ps4, it rarely gets moved, unplugged or anything. And the day we had that big thunderstorm in California, that ignited all the fires, we had the power go off once during the night and that piece of crap stopped working. That is all it took, ONE power outage, I am amazed by the poor quality of this product. LOL UPDATE: I contacted customer service directly with provider and they have been super helpful and offered to replace my hard drive. I have now received a new hard drive and so far no problems. Thanks for the support Seagate!!!

I have several Seagate external HD's ranging from 5TB - 16TB, but I gotta say, this 2 TB HD really amazed ;me. First, when I got it, I was expecting the standard brick, which it's not, it's very thin and super light weight. There's no A/C adaptor & the drive operates with just a standard USB 3.0 plugged into your computer. Larger Seagate external HD's are formatted for NTFS (used for streaming), this HD is exFAT, and is more suited for using as a back up for music, small video, text and pic files. I'm not sure if doing a disc reformatting that it would give an NTFS option, I'm sure it probably would.. but honestly, considering my bad luck with a few other external HD's in the past few years, I didn't really want to press my luck trying to find out. I've used this 2 TB EX HD every day for the past seven months, with no issues. I've received no errors whenever it's been connected. It's fast, very dependable - no lagging or freezing up, and I simply love it - I would have to give this drive 5 Stars. I highly recommend this drive.

Since Seagate has made this item slim and easy to use, there is no need to buy solid state until the price's comes down on them. This product is better than the competitors and reasonably priced. I paid 55 for mine and the 2 TB is a ton of storage. The 2 TB or less seem to be the most reliable and last the longest. Going to 3 TB or higher has not been as reliable so stay with 2 TB or less for best results and longevity.

I have almost a terabyte of family history stored on drives and I need something reliable to make sure it doeesn't get lost. After I had a WD drive fail on me for no reason (wasn't dropped, wasn't kept hot, was only used once a month or so), I knew I had to go back to something I could rely on. At 2TB, this has plenty of storage space for many digital memories for the future, and of all the backup drives I've owned, Seagate is the only one I've never had a problem with. Speeds are fast with the USB 3.0 connector. The drive is very slim (same width as a 1TB WD drive) and the brushed finish is a nice touch.

Ample storage is always important for me. I create and edit a lot of videos, so storage of raw footage means I require more disk space than the average user. I use this for long term storage and it’s been great. I transfer files from memory cards to this, and then pull clips as needed. Transfer speeds meet my needs and overall a great product. Comes with everything you need to use it (cords).

購入して2年ほど経ちましたが、今の所問題なく使えています。 趣味で動画作りをしているためバックアップ用に購入しましたが…容量を気にせずに保存できるのがありがたく、USBを使っていた頃には戻れないなぁと思いました。 音も静かで気になりませんし小さいので場所を取らないのも良いと思います。

Wow ! I really like it. The storage capacity is amazing, 2 TB. When time comes to backup, the integrated software does everything from A to Z. You just mention what you want to backup, and the rest follows. Later after, when you update your backup, the software updates all the folders (removes files you have deleted, add new files, changes files you've changed). On the other hand, it creates an archive folder with all your obsolete files, just in case you want to recover them. There is no differential and incremental backups anymore... this is more userfriendly. You have a mirror function to backup other files in realtime if you want. I really like it and I strongly suggest it. PS: I haven't try the restore function yet.
