The Rider's Balance: Understanding the Weight Aids in Pictures

A Must For Every Rider
I've only also read "Dressage In Lightness" which is a phenomenal book and I also highly suggest. This book however is a much easier read and does not require as much riding experience to digest the information. Rider experience is still a must. I personally like to supplement the riding and reading together. I can read one page and then take everything I've read about and apply it to my riding for the day.

Logical, practical, understandable, awesome read
Sylvia Loch never disappoints. Clear, precise and understandable. Valuable for novices and experts. Her compassion for horses and riders is evident in every word. On a practical note this book isnt just philosophical. You are given lovely instructions and can take the concepts and advice right to the saddle. A great complement to the Balanced Horse by the same author. I loved this book. It will be a dog-eared favorite.

Inspiring
Ad someone who has been gifted with talented instructors who have taught me the reality of this book's main thesis, I found it nicely written and not practically useful. This is the first of Loch's books I've read, so I enjoyed her narrative. However, I would not recommend it to a reader seeking to refine seat aids. That objective can only be achieved on a horse with an educated instructor-translator to help you recognize in the moment what you are doing and how it affects the horse underneath.

A very rider-friendly instruction manual
This book is much more useable and practical than Sylvia's other books. I found them to be more philosophical rather than practical. After 15-yrs of riding dressage I found some very profound ideas in this book that moved my seat to a better level.

Sylvia does not hide the truth!
Sylvia does not hide what truly works for the benefit of the horse and how to do dressage movements and where to put your weight. My favorite book of hers is dressage in lightness .

strong reminders
This is a wonderful book, written like all her books, with a deep knowledge of the horse's anatomy and his feelings. A must for every rider that is seriously interested to learn and give the best to the horse and themselves. She reminds us how crucial all our movements , therefore waight distributions are and what impact they have on the horse . I'm sure it will improve my relationship with my horse, making riding a bigger pleasure by letting the horse move freely and unimpeded to do his work happily.

Brilliant Book
Really useful book with lots of useful information & pictures to illustrate the various techniques. I originally borrowed it from a friend but bought my own copy as I find it such a useful reference book.

The riders balance
Have waited ages for this book to be released and am not disappointed! I think depending on your learning style that it makes a good book that you dip into different sections when you need to. Very well written and explained chapters.
