PHP Hydra Tuner

The Hydra Tuner is awesome! Love all the tunes available, many options and the difference between them is very noticeable. Getting more power over my last tuner. Customer service is also great. I'm an idiot and didn't realize there's a PATS toggle, so my truck wasn't starting. I was freaking out, but customer service explained what was going on and the easy fix. Sure enough, fix was easy. I love this tuner!

The tunes work great however I was having pats issues and php was able to help me get through the issue

I love the php hydra tuner. It makes a huge difference in power. I also installed a 4" mbrp turbo back straight pipe exhaust system at the same time. The combination of the 2 really make a huge difference over a stock 7.3. I like the fuel sipper tune for daily driving, it modifies shift points to shift sooner and smoother. The 100hp performance tuner is pretty awesome too, it'll roll coal!

I love pushing the little buttons on this this works great and added plenty of powerIt also gets rid of the 95 mph governor so that’s a plus

I have a 2000 F350 crew cab with the 7.3. Took me 45min to install and works great. I am using the standard tunes for my truck as mine is nearly stock.Pros:* Once installed it is very easy to use. Just a simple button up or button down to change between tunes* instant tune change. No waiting for the pcm to be flashed like OBD II tuners which is how my Edge tuner worked.* update or install custom tunes on the vehicle using the supplied USB cable and your laptop* doesn't use your OBD II port. I now use my Edge tuner as a monitor/ Guage cluster* 15 customizable tune slots plus 2 reserved slots (00 is bypass for factory and the last one is no start) for a total of 17* doesn't take up much room* excellent customer service. I had questions and they responded immediately and helped me out with an issue my PCM had at 1st.* lots of good reviews and information on the internet about this device.* lots of custom tunes available from 3rd partiesCons:* have to remove PCM to install and need to modify plastic PCM retainer frame. However, the is not very difficult.* the LED control unit is bright. I installed it a little lower on my dash so I don't directly see it at night so minor con for me.I would definitely recommend this to anyone with a 7.3. This woke my truck up and now it is a pleasure to drive. So worth the price for the dramatic improvements in drive ability.

No issues with the tuner and uploading tunes. Kind of thought it would already have tunes on it but its an easy process to get tunes on it plus you get to pick which tunes you want out of almost 25 tunes. Forewarning, if your contacts on your computer are worn down too much you could experience things like, shutting your door or hitting bumps stalls the engine. Tracked it down to if i touched the chip it stalled the engine. Now i know why the previous owner removed a chip previously installed (hole in the dash for a shift on the fly nob). Took out the computer and resoldered the contacts. Works great now. I havent done this before but there are good videos you can look up to tackle the job.

Received my Hydra chip yesterday and installed it today. I've been on the fence about chipping my 7.3 but several I know have done it and are happy. At first, I was anxious about this sort of brain surgery. . .one wrong move and the truck would be brain dead.Happily, there are numerous videos on line which will take you through the installation tips. Keep in mind, they don't have to be videos just for this chip because the PCM removal is the same no matter which brand of chip you use.My biggest problem is that I wear an XXL glove size so my hands barely fit into the space to remove the bolt that holds the PCM to the wiring harness. Now that I've done this chore once, I could do it again in a fourth of the time.I found that 18" of extensions plus a universal joint on my 1/4" ratchet made a huge difference in accessing the 10mm bolt that needed to be removed.After explicitly following the instructions I was able to program the chip, print a sheet with its parameters, and get it all running on the first try.I've had this truck for over 22 years and it has never had the kick in the pants acceleration it has now! My wife and I were giggling like teenagers on the test drive!Mostly I'm interested in fuel efficiency and towing power so I'll update this review once I get some data for you. I can't tell you whether or not this is the best chip out there but it works great for me. My brother uses it and recommended it to me. Stay tuned.

This is hands down the best product on the market for putting different calibrations on your PowerStroke.17 slots, 15 available for custom or canned tunes. Easy to install, just pull the PCM, carefully clean the progamming interface (complete directions supplied and/or online) install the memory module, run your cables for programming and the switch/readout. The canned tunes for stock setups are all free on the PHP site, and are plenty good enough for a stock truck, then when the diesel power bug bites you (and it will!) you can get custom tunes from lots of diesel shops, many/most seem to write calibrations for the PHP Hydra.Change your tune on the fly! Truck too loud at the drive through? Pull up "whisper" mode in a second or two, long hill ahead? punch up an 80hp shot of get up and go in an instant! Long straight flat road? punch in an economy tune and save that cash!I will ONLY be using Power Hungry Performance products for me AND my customers from now on!Entire installation and initial programming takes between 30 minutes if you are good, to an hour if you are slow.. ;)then, you can take your laptop to the truck to download and install any tune you want in a matter of 2 or 3 minutes.... but with 15 user programmable slots available, you won't need to do that unless you add some new parts! (injectors, turbo, etc...)I rarely take the time to write reviews, but this product is WORTH EVERY PENNY AND MORE!
