The RioRand digital Remote Meter displays system operating information, error indications, and self-diagnostics read-out. Information is displayed on a backlit LCD display. The large numerical display and icons are easy to read and large buttons make navigating the meter menus easy. The meter can be flush mounted in a wall or surface mounted using the mounting frame (included). The MT-5 is supplied with 2m of cable and a mounting frame. The MT-5 connects to the RJ45 port on the Tracer. DisplayThe two LED indicators above the LCD show that battery is charging, and a red indicates error conditions. The LCD has two different brightness levels. After any button is pressed the display will be in high brightness and backlight. To save power, the backlight automatically turns off after 30 seconds.Parameters* Model: MT-5* Dimension:3.74*3.74*0.95 inches* Working Current: Backlight and LED indicator off < 15mA* Work temperature: -10 Centigrade to +40 Centigrade* Communication port: RJ45(8PIN)* Communication cable: 2 meters with supplied cablePackage Content1 x RioRand RRMT-51 x cable1 x user manual NOTE: YOU SHOULD KEEP THE BATTERY WITH ENOUGH POWER, OR IT MIGHT BE EASILY DAMAGED!!!

Terrible LCD otherwise OK
Others have reviewed the features of this meter and I will simply say it works well at giving useful information regarding your charge controller and battery status, but the LCD is truly terrible! If you try to mount it on a vertical surface at eye level or below the display appears blank, you have to look up at it. I finally mounted it in a panel that was tilted at a 45 degree angle (the bottom furthest from the wall) and this made it much easier to read. Now that I have found a way to mount this meter and still read it, I plan to buy another one for my second charge controller.I almost took off two stars for the LCD, it really is bad unless you can find a place to mount it, either angled or above eye level. If you can do that then I would recommend it but if you can only mount this on a flat vertical surface below eye level you will be disappointed.

Nice & Readable Display
Perhaps this is not the fault of the Display, but SOC (state of charge) is done by VOLTAGE ONLY. This is NOT the way to provide a comprehensive read-out of the condition of the battery. For example, if the Charge Controller is providing 14.4 volts to the battery, the Display reads 100%. Take away the sun from your solar panel (say, after an hour) and the charge drops to 12.8 volts, then the Display reads 70%. Not so. Keeping that in mind, the Display does a good job of providing accurate information of what is going on with your battery. "State Of Charging" might be a better way to think of the SOC percentage.

I love the panels
Works for the most part. Biggest complaint is the viewing angles. I contacted renogy and was told to mounted it at eye level. Since I have the system in a popup, this was not an option. So now I have to get on my knees to read it. Second issue is the state of charge % is not accurate. I was told by renogy that I shouldn't use that as it is not an accurate way to see the state of charge. I reminded them that it was a feature of the remote and not me trying to get it to do something it wasn't supposed to do. Bottom line, I love the panels, the mppt controller but the remote monitor is not that good. I wish they had a better looking/working remote like the M-50 that would work with my controller.

Perfect for the job, nice looks
It looks very nice, it displays what you need. I have installed mine without the provided mount and it looks much better than it would sticking out on the wall. The information it displays is not too much but it is enough to understand what your system is doing. It showed me vital information to understand that putting three panels in series in my rv, was the best solution for my needs. I could see how panel voltage dropped drastically depending on the time if the day and that even if I had 300 watts of panels and just a 270w converter the system was just right.

Hard to Read Screen
Great meter in that it relays a lot of information. My ding is that it is very hard to read the screen at certain angles. This could have been avoided if it would just have some adjust-ability as far as the LCD screen goes. All else is great, just hard to read.

Good with poor screen
I am happy with the information provided on the screen but the screen itself has a very poor display and is difficult to read unless looking directly at it from a short distance. (Yes, I have my glasses on).

I really was only looking for this to measure voltage ...
I really was only looking for this to measure voltage in from the panel and down at the batteries, and it does that very well.

Information is very useful to program and monitor the controller
Information is very useful to program and monitor the controller, but DO NOT TOUCH LCD SCREEN! Screen is very cheap!
