Good enough
For those of you wondering about sizing as a men's shoe: I typically wear a 10.5. My foot width is a D and is really a bit narrower than that. These shoes are a bit tight on me. I went with the equivalent 10.5 men's size and wish I'd gone up one size for a little more toe room and a little less snug fit. With all that said, I kept the shoes. The next size up would have probably been better but these are still OK. They're just going to need a bit of breaking-in.I bought the shoes for Tai Chi. They are light weight but the grooves on the bottom are a little aggressive. I had hoped they'd slide a bit more on the floor but they grip pretty much like any other athletic shoe. The construction is good.I like the shoes and will use them for the purpose for which I bought them, but will likely try something else after these wear out. They are close to what I wanted and the price is right. Just not close enough.I read some of the other reviews and one of the complaints that surfaced a couple of times is how they smell. To me, they smell exactly like the old Converse Allstars from back in the day. Kind of rubbery but not unpleasant.

Minimalist shoe
I have enjoyed wearing these shoes for about a week now. I find they fit my moderately wide feet well. I usually wear a US 10.5, but I can have a hard time getting my feet into any popular brand of shoes. When it is possible to get my foot into those shoes my toes usually feel like they are clamped together. No such problem with these in a 10.5. My pair of Doublestar had a break in period, but once I wore them for a day they stretched to my feet. I would recommend a very thin sock or possibly no sock at all, if you can get away with that. The cloth upper on these is fairly thin and flexible, which I like. The upper running behind the heel is probably a weak point in this shoe. I found that if I just tried to shove my foot in them the material would shift. The sole is very flexible and quite thin, with a gel pad (1/8 to 1/4 inch thick) for the insole. These shoes have been worn outside after rain, inside, and while bicycling, without any grip problems, on many different surface. I could see problems because Doublestars offer no arch support and very little cushion. These shoes will make your feet work harder, which would not be a selling point for some people. As far as workmanship on these - seems pretty nice for the price. There is a bit of excess glue on the upper where it meets the outsole. I have some separation of the outsole to the cloth upper near my big toe on one shoe. Pretty normal as that seems to be a major flex point. I have had more expensive shoes where the outsole separates from the upper within a couple of weeks because of poor gluing - in spots that get less flex stress, like the heel. I would not lace these up too tight as you could possibly rip the lacing rivets out.Truthfully, everything else aside, I bought my shoes because they look cool. Have had a few compliments on how they look, so I think others agree. Personally, anything retro looking with bright colors - I'm in. Everything else I have talked about in this review is just a plus for me. Now I just have to wait. To see how they wear or as is the case with all things, how much time passes before they wear out.

Updated 10/27/18
Update 3/27/18I’ve been wearing these for a few months now. It was good in the beginning but now the shoes don’t feel wide enough anymore. I’ve been walking 6mi at least 4x a week with them while also including barefoot walking. They are still in good condition but I feel that my feet have gotten wider so I won’t be wearing them much anymore.I already had wide feet to begin with but If you have regular width feet then these will be good for those who are starting to get into minimalist shoes. Those who do have wide feet I recommend Altra shoes specifically the escalante because of the wide toe box along with zero drop soles.Received 7/11/18 $27.99I like the shoes however I need to see how durable they are over time. It definitely needs more colors like all black, all white, and other color combinations.Initially I felt that the shoes were too tight and snug but after a couple of days I started to break it in to my wide feet. I never had a shoe mold to my foot shape that quickly so I don’t know if that’s a good thing. They are very light and flexible with no arch support. When I ran with them my feet would hurt a bit because I am not use to less padding. So far I have walked 25mi in them and each time my ankles and feet would ache which is a sign that I need to strengthen my feet. The good thing is my knees aren’t hurting at all the way they did when wearing regular running shoes that have the heel lifted. I really hope these shoes will last at least 6 months because I don’t want to have to buy really expensive minimalist shoes.

True to size, and very comfortable!
Awesome pair of shoes. They fit true to size and very very comfortable. I'd be actually interested in maybe even ordering 2-3 more pairs just to have on hand when these wear out. I'm curious how long they will last... That's the last criteria I have for these before I jump on more, but I'm using them as minimal shoes to do workouts and walk around in, so I'm hoping to squeeze out at least 6 months. I remember buying the tiger claw shoes when I was younger maybe 10-15 years ago and these are miles better in initial feel. However, those grew on me in time so I'm hoping these will also continue to be awesome.

Nice shoes - wash well - but boy oh boy do they ever SHRINK when you wash them!
They are comfy, and seem well enough made for 19 dollar shoes. Though I will come back in a few months and report on quality. I bought them for Kung Fu, which they are ok. Not a lot of ankle/foot support, but if you prefer light weight shoes for martial arts, they are good. I think they fit better than Fleuve. The one thing I want to warn people about is how much they SHRINK when you wash them. Whoa! I got size 7.5, and they fit well. But then I wore them out to a volunteer gig in which I was pouring beer, and beer got on them. So I washed them. They washed fine, and looked fine after and held up fine. But they shrunk TONS. They don't fit now. :( . So now I have had to order a new pair, the next size up, 8.5, and I plan to wash them before I wear them, and hope they will shrink to the right size.
