You have to hear it to believe it!
I have been playing classical for over 50 years. I have several handmade guitars. I wanted to try this guitar because I could not understand how you could make an acoustic guitar with reverb. This guitar is amazing. The fit and finish are perfect. The setup is quite good for this price range, I only made minor adjustments. But the sound is amazing. I only use the reverb and the chorus on very low settings and it sounds like I am playing in a huge concert hall.

Music is time made audible by Yamaha CG TA
Guitar came a day ahead of schedule. Packaging was excellent and guitar is unblemished. Frets are nice and smooth and action is very pleasant. It sounds very nice and even a lot nicer when the trans acoustic is turned on. Controls are very intuitive. Guitar is loud enough and very resonant. After 2 weeks of use the E string( #1) broke off while hanging on my rack. I called the vendor The Music Zoo to ask what brand of strings are installed, myself wanting to maintain tone integrity. They emailed back and told me a replacement is on its way. True to their words a complete set of strings came in 2 days later. The only thing I dislike about it is there is no case that came with it and I did buy a case because the guitar is pretty and I don’t want it dinged just in case I have to travel with it. Overall it’s a good guitar and thanks to the Music Zoo for a careful job shipping it.

Buzzed electronics
Poor quality electronics. After playing guitar for a few weeks electronics had static buzzing tone.

Love it.
Love this guitar. Best purchase I've made in a long time. Sounds great with or without the onboard effects.

Great guitar
Great guitar, sounds great and easy on the fingers. Had one string "A" break after only a few days at the nnut.. Not shure why as I did not play very hard.

Wow!
I play once I week in a big entrance to a hospital where amplification is not allowed. The depth and presence created by the on-board electronics, on low, was simply the perfect boost a classical guitar needed in a “hall.” Yamaha workmanship, solid fine grained spruce top, accurate notes up the neck …I am happy. Only a cut-away would have added a slight advantage, but now I am being picky.

Reverb effect stopped working in less than two years
I purchased the Yamaha CG-TA TransAcoustic Guitar in May 2020, with a one-year warranty. The reverb effect broke down in March 2022. The amount of reverb is now tiny compared to what it was. I contacted Yamaha customer service and they sent me a link to find service techs in my area. There is only one service tech in the whole San Francisco Bay Area (?!), which is in San Mateo, CA. That's a 45 minute highway drive from where I am, outside of traffic hours. Opens 10am to 5pm Mon-Fri which is impossible for people who work normal hours. Yamaha customer service then told me: "Since the electronics are out of warranty you can actually take them to any guitar technician." "...they can diagnose the electronics and order parts if needed." So far, no success finding a technician who's willing to take the guitar. Besides the transacoustic effects breaking in less than two years, I'm giving an extra star because the guitar is acoustically decent, although of course, it cannot compete with luthier-made guitars (which are way more expensive, so I didn't expect that). The acoustic timbre of the guitar is quite good, very well balanced and pleasant. It just doesn't have much volume but again, that's fair (and even desirable if you plan to use it amplified on stage). However, the only reason I purchased this guitar was to enjoy the transacoustic effects, and they broke down in less than two years. That's why I'm filing a two-star review.

Exactly as advertised.
The TA component functioned exactly as advertised. However, I was more impressed by the natural (non-mechanically enhanced) sound of the instrument. I’ve played classical guitars for many years and am well-acquainted with the quality of sound within the instruments’ registers. For a lower priced Yamaha classical (meaning, without TA enhancements) even an experienced player would enjoy playing it. The only negatives are one, the need to keep a good supply of double A batteries, and two, I felt some discomfort of fingertips, especially when pressing on first and second strings. I’m not sure of the brand of strings. Nevertheless, the instrument is enjoyable. Nuff said.
