Nash Brothers Trading Organic Beans, Pinto, 16 Ounce (Pack of 12)

I've (finally) got myself in the habit of making beans for scratch. My mother use to make beans almost every Sunday and it was always one of those things I wanted to start up. After years of buying organic canned black beans I finally made the plunge, ordered a batch of organic dried beans from Amazon, and never looked back.It's been a few months now and I'm on my second shipment of beans. I will truly never go back to canned!These are so easy to make: soak over-night, dump out water, put in crock-pot, cover beans with water, cook for 8 hours or so. Drain excess water if need-be then add salt, pepper, juice of 1 lemon, and a few tablespoons balsamic vinegar. SO GOOD. We eat them as a dip for quick snacks and put them in quesadillas/burritos with fixings almost daily.

I've been using Eden Organic garbanzos but the price has skyrocketed and these were a third of the price for the same quantity. My only concern is the BPA status of the cans--I could find no where on them that they are BPA-free--a tremendous concern for me (and should be for you). In such a can I would rate these beans 5-stars. I'm going to further research this issue and will add to this review if I find something definitive.

I was not Amazon's or Fed x fault. Nash Brothers inside package was too weak to hold the cans together. The outside box was fine. As Fed x just drops it off you have no chance to look inside and you should not have to anyway. Much thanks to Amazon for giving me my money back. Yeah to Amazon. Boo to Nash. I would have loved to try the product it sounded so good. Nancy Miller

The Libby's organics were much better -- more firm.

These beans are so delicious! Good source of fibres,protein,calcium ,potassium. I wash them,put them in cold water and then boil gently for about 2 hours in an enamel cast iron . I do not add salt or other ingredients and the flavor is very good .

I love not having to lug cases of these home. Legumes are high on my list to eat daily. Easy to have on hand. Will be ordering again. Maybe not as firm as some other brands I've tried, but great flavor.

Beware, the kidney beans are from China. I had order the pinto beans and great northern beans before which are from the USA. I called Nash Brothers and they could care less that I was dissatisfied with their product.

I am a vegetarian, I live on beans as my source of protein. I have used these for soups, veggie burgers etc
