Bem HL2022F Bluetooth Mobile Speaker for Smartphones - Retail Packaging - Green

The charging port broke within three weeks, I would not order this speaker again unless they fixed this issue.

Like others who have reviewed this speaker, I am not a speaker snob. My husband and I fell in love with this handy little speaker when having dinner outside with friends. We had a great time listening to music on itunes and pandora. The music was robust--we couldn't believe it came from this little box.So we ordered one for significantly more money than our friend got it for: he had a groupon for $20 a piece! We paid $60 for the green bem. I would have gotten more if they were less, but now I'm glad we didn't because the Bem says it is good for 25 feet away from your mp3 device, but we have not found this to be the case. If my iphone is in the next room, on the other side of a wall, the music will "skip" the way a scratched CD skips. So basically, our experience is that the music device needs to be in the room with the speaker (and we have a small house). That is my reason for 4 stars.Otherwise this is a great speaker that is way worth it--we get very good sound without having to shell out hundreds (or more) for top notch speakers.

As compared to the friend's who introduced me to his exact mobile speaker - I can't get to sound the same w/o crackling & distortion. He got his @ costco, but I don't understand why I don't have the clear-Non interferenced sound he did in which we were inspired to purchase. I even bought one for a graduation gift assuming all was equal to my friend's. Hope to get this rectified soon or will return.

A nice little speaker, good tone. The cube is cute and colorful. Controls are poorly designed. Pressure sensitive up/down has an odd touch to it. There is no indication of where the volume is, ie. the loudness is unknown, you can get a surprise when you connect with Bluetooth. An off/on switch can turn the host player on and off. The cubes on/off switch is in the bottom of the cube. Why? Using this speaker with one machine (laptop, iPod, etc.) is simple, easy, repeatable. Switch to a different machine and things get, funky. Usually have to just make both machines “forget” each other, and start over. Not a deal breaker, but a nuisance. Has aux-in/aux-out ports so you can use a wire. I’ve seen this unit for sale at $69.99 +. That’s too much, imho.

Sounds great and have ordered others previously from different places but this one didn't hold a charge after a few months of use. It works now only when plugged in.

You want a speaker to provide good sound. Bem does. The quality is good (relatively speaking, Bluetooth is for convenience) and it gets really loud.The only problem is the user interface. The on/of switch is on the bottom. The volume and device controls are touch sensitive with no tactile feed back. That is, the volume control doesn't click, it is activated by any touch. This makes it possible to inadvertently activate the controls if you aren't paying attention to how you pick it up.Overall, good sound quality and the price is right (I had less quality for more $$$ on other speakers).

I bought one of these for a yankee swap gift and liked it so much I had to buy one for myself. It's real small (about the size of a tennis ball), looks great and packs some good sound. Using it around my condo, I only have the volume at a little over half way and it's plenty loud. The bluetooth connectivity is quick and sticks even when I walk around my condo with my phone in my pocket. I haven't used it at a party or anything yet and being so small it probably would get drowned out in a room that was too too loud, but it's plenty loud for around the house and even when I'm in the shower. I was deciding between this and a jawbone jambox and went with the bem since it was half the price, I'm very happy with the decision.

BEM clearly designed a nice speaker with a flaw. The USB port is not well secured to the board, so it only takes a little force from the plug in the wrong direction to pull the USB housing connector and the board traces right off the board. This seems to be a common complaint with this speaker, and BEM hasn't rectified the situation or produced a fix.
