Excellent Lightweight Jacket
Needed a lighter rain jacket for backpacking. This is great. Very lightweight. Packs into itself for easier storage. Definitely keeps the rain off me - it simply rolls right down the jacket and drips on my shoes. Good length and interior space to layer clothes under it. Has zippered pockets that other rain jackets don't. Only concern is durability. It is so lightweight I could see it getting snagged on a branch quite easily. I carry Tenacious Tape with me for that reason.

Best Purchase of my Life and that's saying something.
I walk. I bike. I hike. I'm 67. I have paid hundreds of dollars for rain and winter gear for me and three sons. Then I found this jacket. $35 ? It's not Marmot, Columbia, L.L. Bean, Patagonia or REI. So I figured there's no way this is going to be a smart purchase. Surprise, surprise. This is the best outer layer for winter and best rain wear I ever bought. I don't review stuff. I ain't getting paid. I do not know these people. But when you find something this good, this cheap, you should let your friends and neighbors know. I don't want to take this jacket off. It's like a warm hug and when they say "bone dry" they mean it. Even in a "pouring down rain", which we're having all too often lately, this is THE jacket. The zippers work, period. The sleeves and waist can all be tightened up so no water, no cold air can get in. I was stunned to get something this well made for this little money. And it weighs about the same as a tissue. I've been using it as a winter outer layer and it beats all the puffies and trendy, label-conscious coats by a mile. I am a Frogg Togger for life now.

Incredible Value in Lightweight Raingear
Our family spent a month traveling around Japan in a hot typhoon season. We grabbed these jackets because they had a few great things going for them:+ Lightweight (measured weights of 7.2oz/7.5oz for M/L)+ Compact (1/3 the packed size of our GoreTex jackets)+ Totally waterprooof (won't ever wet out, dries quickly, good windbreaker)+ Shockingly cheap for good, light gear. They have handy features like quality zippers, zippered pockets, elastic drawstring waist with decent barrel adjusters, taped seams, and some hood adjustments. Our trip was super wet. Nearly daily showers and a few insane downpours. We carried these in our backpack daily, and the compact size and light weight were dearly appreciated. But after weeks of daily use they show no obvious signs of wear and tear.A few small complaints - Total waterproofness means non-breathable. In our hot monsoon hikes we got pretty sweaty, these things are just dying for pit zips. - Not stylish at all. These are fine for the backcountry but the bright zippers and translucent material stand out deeply unfashionable in downtown Tokyo. - Sized for big people. We are tall and the fit was way oversize. 6'2" 190lb man wore a medium well but loose and a 6'0" 145lb woman wearing a 25lb baby in a carrier was fine in a large (without a baby she was very loose in the medium). Size down. - For me the collar fit slightly oddly, it chafed a bit when fully zipped up.All in all these were great, reliable pieces of gear - an amazing deal when considering the cost of lightweight rain jackets. If they ever make rainpants I'll buy 'em in a heartbeat. (Still, with all the great detail I'm holding off one star for the missing pit zips.)

Great rain protection at a great price.
Does what is needed for backpacking and is incredibly light. Similar name brand jackets (granted with pit zips) cost 2-3 times as much to get into this weight category. Rain jackets suck for breathability (not surprisingly). So just get this and go about your life. If you were to do a several month-long trip consider upgrading to something with pit zips. Several days of rain and poor venting options would be a suffererfest for sure. \This jacket does allow venting through the mesh pockets.Pit zips would complete this as the perfect rain jacket. However, for the cost, one cannot complain.Bought one for my son, liked it so much I bought another for me.

Waterproof for at least 40 minutes, compact, looks funny
Functionality is great - I was dry after biking for 30-40 minutes during normal rain. It's convenient to fold this one and have at the bottom of the backpack. ---I would suggest a couple of extra-straps to fold it more efficiently. The material is nearly transparent. That gives a feeling that the fabric is feeble. I don't like it too much but it makes me care more about it and protect from accidental sharp objects or campfire sparks, so - all for the best.

Well worth the money
This is exactly what it’s advertised to be. It isn’t the nicest rain jacket out there, but it’s perfect for me. I use it for hiking and to keep in my car just in case. It is very lightweight and it works. If you’re looking for a step up from the cheap Frogg Toggs jacket with the pants combo, this is a step in the right direction.

Light and affordable but flimsy
While this is extremely light and definitely the best quality at this price point, it is flimsy.... to the point of being temperamental. The first time I took it out in the woods there was a sudden downpour, and in the hurry to get this thing out of the pack and unzip it- the zipper somehow got caught on the jacket itself and became stuck after ripping a hole in the chest portion on the jacket. I said f it and just got soaked. The jacket that I have is my second one of these after getting a replacement for the first. I haven't tested it in any more colossal downpours, but have had several weekends of wear in the incredibly wet Smokies and it's held up well enough. I do have to be mindful of leaving it unzipped when putting it away, and carefully zipping it up before it freaks out again and eats a hole in itself. The other downside to this jacket is the lack of pit zips. It doesn't feel hot when you put it on because it's so lightweight, but after about 5 minutes of activity you'll be taking off the hood and unzipping because it's so hot.Overall, not the worst for being as lightweight as it is, but certainly not the best.

Very impressed with this Jacket
I recently purchased these for a trip to the Lake District. The jacket was one of the best bits of kit i had that week, with consistant rain and wind it really held up. it kept me dry and warm. on times i did have to open the zip to stop overheating however, for the price its a small compromise.the weight is fantastic and packs down really small. it dosent look the best but hey it works....

Great ultralight rain jacket. Order 1 size smaller
Solid jacket!Pros: ultralight, water proof, breathable, soft touch, low costCons: zippers constantly catch fabric which I expect will cause damage in future, unfashionableI am 30 lbs overweight and a large size is still too big with layers! I would order a size smaller.

Early feedback
I'm a large (UK) t-shirt size 44" chest and went for the medium Frogg Toggs Xtream Rain Jacket. The fit is perfect if you are wearing a couple of thin base layers. The large might have been a better choice for fit as it would accommodate a thicker fleece layer. Regarding performance I'm not so happy, the jacket is very light but feels quite delicate but for the price I think thats acceptable. The main issue is the breathability of the fabric which is zero. But again you have to weigh up the weight and waterproofing of the jacket against the breathability. For a low cost jacket its not a bad choice but I would recommend people also look at budget poncho's or an umbrella as an alternative for light weight backpacking .

Cheap, very light, keeps you dry…… mostly
100% water proof material. Which is great if you like hiking inside a hot, wet plastic bag……… lol. If it had long armpit zips it would be a game changer. As it is, it’s a sauna. But what more would you expect for something so cheap and disposable?
