Well constructed with simple instructions to follow - brings peace of mind
It's difficult to assess how effective an air quality product is without actually measuring the air quality, but I can review the installation process and give anecdotal evidence of it's performance. Firstly, the product arrives well packaged, seems to be well constructed and has simple instructions to follow. Tools required: 1) electric drill with 3/32" drill bit and a 2" cutter (I used one that you would use to cut out the circle for a door lock) 2) Medium size positive drive screwdriver, and 3) tape. Step 1: Cut out/tear out template from instruction pamphlet and tape to duct work (cold air side), Step 2: drill two 3/32" holes for mounting screws, Step 3: drill 2" hole for UV bulb (do step 3 after step 2 as step 3 tends to destroy the template ... at least it did for me). Step 4: Mount UV100A1059 unit, Step 5: install bulb being careful not to touch it and leave oils on the bulb (If you do, just clean it with a damp cloth), Step 6: plug in and check that the blue indicator light is on. That's it ... very simple and takes less than 10 minutes. As to the anecdotal evidence that the unit makes any difference ... my wife has just undergone chemotherapy and has no immune system. Unfortunately I caught a cold at the time she came out of hospital. so I installed the UV100A1059. I am happy to say that my wife did not pick up my germs and is making a great recovery. Was it the UV100A1059? I think it's playing a part working silently in the background and there is scientific evidence as to the effect of UV light on bacteria and viruses. I would recommend it to anyone with allergies, immune system deficiency or living in a humid environment where mold can grow.

First thing is this light can BLIND YOU! If you look at this light the uv rays can blind you PERMANENTLY so only plug in after installed securely away from visual field. If you buy the bit that is suggested with this product you will need a pilot bit also, a mandrill. Be sure you do not try to cut sheet metal with a wood bit, i did and it does not work well.I installed this between the A-coils of my condenser which is one of the places you can install. If you choose return duct or outgoing duct be aware that some things this uv light will kill needs exposure time and if it is whipping by the light heading into or out of your home it is a great possibility that it will not have enough contact time with the light to destroy it.My unit did not look anything like the ones i seen during my research. If you leave the cover panels off your inside unit while your system turns on the coils will not have enough air flow around them to evaporate the moister and it will freeze up. Mine did while i went to big box store to purchase tin sheers, which did not work to cut sheet metal btw. No permanent damage to the coils though, just turn the system off and it will melt away.

A must have item from now on.
Put one in each air handler unit in my home about 18 months ago. Working perfectly. Change in air quality in our home is tremendous! Nearly a 20 year old home, former owner loved scented candles and had dogs. Cleaned the evap coils and installed one of these lights above the coils in spring 2017. No more odors whatsoever in our home, and when something happens that stinks, I just turn on the hvac fan to circulate the air and odor goes away completely. No more allergy issues either, and colds/flus are contained to the individual instead of spreading throughout the entire family. But favorite part - when we're gone for say a day or two and come walking back into the home, it smells so fresh, clean, and nearly like new construction (on a 20 year old home). I'd easily say these little lights are responsible for 90% of that. The technology works. I have a UV light in our hot tub system. I barely have to add any chemicals to it to keep the water clean and fresh. On the same bulb in the hot tub now for the past 5 years. Water passes through a UV chamber inside the pump housing.Best "home improvement" device I have ever come across, period. Will forever have this in any home I live in going forward.

It works as advertised.
Easy installation, approximately 30 minutes. I installed near the condenser of the furnace. As directed by the installation instructions, I located it away from furnace parts like plastic/rubber that could potentially melt/deform from the heat generated by the UV light. It has been working constantly since installation with no issues.

PIECE OF JUNK
Ordered in August of 2023 installed by pro HVAC tech and it only worked until the end Novermber 2023. Tech came out today and ran diagnostics on system and this unit was not working. Honeywell use to be a reliable product, but now not so much. Return for this item ran out in September 2023.

Ease of Installation
Since I have only had this air purifier installed for a week I can't attest to the durability of this item, although the construction leads me to believe it will last for years to come. Since we installed it my wife and I are already sneezing less and seem to be less congested (we installed it in late Dec 2020). We bought this item to replace a different UV air purifier that had less wattage and the bulbs were significantly more expensive.I did have to go to Lowe's and buy a two-inch hole saw for around 19.00 and a roll of aluminum tape for about 3.00 prior to installation. The aluminum tape was to cover holes left from the old air purifier and the two-inch hole saw was necessary for installing the new purifier. All-in-all, the installation was very easy with a drill, a phillips bit and the hole saw.The item is securely held in place with just two self-tapping screws and bulb replacement is as easy as turning a knob, pulling the old four-pronged bulb out, putting a new one in the holder, sliding the bulb and holder back in, and turning the knob. I have always had good experiences with Honeywell products which also played a part in my choosing this product. We also bought four extra bulbs which we hope will last for several years.Addition: 12/31/2023, I am ordering a new one to replace the original which lasted right at three years.
