I have a 13 acre farm with an 8 gauge stranded wire encircling the entire property. So about 2,900 linear feet of fence wire. I only have about 8 feet of twisted wire between the transmitter and where the fence starts.I placed the stakes about 10 feet apart and ran a hose to each one and let it run at a bit more than a trickle for about an hour. I found the break with relative ease. (Cutting away brush was time consuming to follow the wire.) All in all a great experience with the tool.

I wish this was available 20 years ago. It would have saved me untold money when we redid landscaping, and I paid the local Invisible Fence franchise $300+ each time they came out to locate and fix a fence break. Some time ago I tried using an electronic component and an AM radio as instructed by the Internet but was never able to get this arrangement to work.This unit is easy to set up and easy to use. As an added bonus, the instructions are both clear and concise (a nice change of pace). I bought it to locate a break I created last week while replacing fence posts. I had a general idea of where the break was and located it to within a foot in less than five minutes.I would like to think that anyone who can read and follow simple instructions can be successful locating breaks with this unit and save themselves the trouble and expense of paying a service to do it for them.

I set up the Broken Wire Detector exactly as the instructions stated.....Following the wire with the wand to the left gave a red light and solid tone.......going to the right gave a green light and a beeping tone.....when they stopped either green or red and switched to the other color...you found your break ....Worked Perfectly....couldn't believe how easy it was...Paid for itself with 1 break that I couldn't find before...... I had zero luck in the past with an RF choke and AM radio.....make sure you dump a couple of buckets of water on the ground where the grounding spikes go in to make it work properly.....If I could do it...anyone can !!!

I've bought thousands of things on Amazon and have left one review other than this. This product is fantastic. Super easy setup and what a time saver. Highly recommend.

Worked as advertised! Found the wire break within 10 minutes of set up! Fixed as quickly with repair kit!Dog fence is back in service, though our dog is not as happy about the repair as I am!

The locator, with the grounding the wire kit set up, was very easy to use and found several breaks in the wire. Once I fixed the detected breaks with the gel-filled capsules, the controller stopped beeping and my dog could be out in our yard safe once again.However, the locator was not able to detect breaks near the house from chipmunks nawing through the wire - there was just enough of a connection that it was not a complete break. That has always been a problem and I knew I had to dig around my front stoop to find them which I did and fixed them with the gel-filled capsules.

Took an hour or so to really figure this tool out, but once I did, it’s a piece of cake to find the break. Was able to repair my invisible fence. Super happy with this!!!

This thing actually works like the videos and other reviews. I found the break in about 30 mins from opening the box. It was worth the money, don't buy those cheap $30 ones!!!
